Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia (GAVE) is an uncommon cause of chronic gastrointestinal bleeding and iron deficiency anemia in the geriatric population. It is often associated with cirrhosis of the liver and is hypothesized to result from synthetic liver dysfunction. Treatment options include argon plasma coagulation, endoscopic band ligation, and radiofrequency ablation.

This is the largest international collaboration to date that will develop algorithms to predict trajectories and outcomes of individuals at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis and to advance the development and use of novel pharmacological interventions for CHR individuals. We present a description of the participating research networks and the data processing analysis and coordination center, their processes for data harmonization across 43 sites from 13 participating countries (recruitment across North America, Australia, Europe, Asia, and South America), data flow and quality assessment processes, data analyses, and the transfer of data to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Data Archive (NDA) for use by the research community.

As Dante Cicchetti pointed out decades before the term "transdiagnostic" was widely used, the pathways to psychopathology emerge in a system involving equifinality and multifinality. Like most other psychological disorders, psychosis is associated with multiple domains of risk factors, both genetic and environmental, and there are many transdiagnostic developmental pathways that can lead to psychotic syndromes.

Demographic information and parental depression or anxiety data were collected and analyzed using an independent sample -test and chi-squared analysis. Stress measures were recorded as percentiles.

The incidence of cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis, is increasing. Hepatitis B and C have been well established as predisposing factors for this malignancy. The availability and efficacy of treatment for hepatitis C infection has led to a substantial reduction in viral hepatitis-related cholangiocarcinoma mortality.

The contrasting outcomes and management approaches for these conditions underscore the necessity for accurate diagnosis and appropriate intervention. We present a case of a 29-year-old female with a medical history significant for type 1 diabetes mellitus who presented with abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Background: Basic self-disturbance, or anomalous self-experiences (ASEs), is a core feature of the schizophrenia spectrum. We propose a novel method of natural language processing to quantify ASEs in spoken language by direct comparison to an inventory of self-disturbance, the Inventory of Psychotic-Like Anomalous Self-Experiences (IPASE). We hypothesized that there would be increased similarity in open-ended speech to the IPASE items in individuals with early-course psychosis (PSY) compared with healthy individuals, with clinical high-risk (CHR) individuals intermediate in similarity.

However, its association with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is unclear. We present a rare case of GBS secondary to COVID-19 infection complicated by rapidly progressive sensorimotor deterioration resistant to plasma exchange therapy.

Hence, we will assess thought disorder using the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) heuristic for language production, and its recommended paradigm of "linguistic corpus-based analyses of language output". Positive thought disorder (e.

We present the case of a young man at risk for psychosis who has paradoxically shown symptomatic and functional improvement as a result of circumstances produced by COVID-19. These changes were unexpected given the client's persistent mental health struggles in the year leading up to the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States and the expectation of an exacerbation of psychotic-like symptoms.

In this study, we conducted the first systematic review of the literature on psychosis-like experiences (PLEs) and resilience. Fifteen articles (from 11 unique study samples) from 10 countries were included in this systematic review, with a total of 11,937 unique study participants.

It is therefore important to characterize language impairment in the psychosis spectrum in order to develop potential preventive interventions. Natural language processing (NLP) metrics of semantic coherence and syntactic complexity have been used to discriminate schizophrenia patients from healthy controls (HC) and predict psychosis onset in individuals at clinical high-risk (CHR) for psychosis.

The aim of this study was to explore life experiences of individuals at CHR through qualitative research.
Method: Participants were 37 individuals at CHR (20 male, 17 female) aged 16-34 ( = 23.
Aberrant pauses are characteristic of schizophrenia and are robustly associated with its negative symptoms. Here, we found that pause behavior was associated with negative symptoms in individuals at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis, and with measures of syntactic complexity-phrase length and usage of determiners that introduce clauses-that we previously showed in this same CHR cohort to help comprise a classifier that predicted psychosis. These findings suggest a common impairment in discourse planning and verbal self-monitoring that affects both speech and language, and which is detected in clinical ratings of negative symptoms.

The current study seeks to examine whether such abnormalities are associated with changes in brain structure and functional connectivity in CHR individuals.
Methods: Automated natural language processing analysis was applied to speech samples obtained from 46 CHR and 22 healthy individuals.
Human ratings of conceptual disorganization, poverty of content, referential cohesion and illogical thinking have been shown to predict psychosis onset in prospective clinical high risk (CHR) cohort studies. The potential value of linguistic biomarkers has been significantly magnified, however, by recent advances in natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML). Such methodologies allow for the rapid and objective measurement of language features, many of which are not easily recognized by human raters.

Methods: We assessed change in patient activation and general self-efficacy from baseline to 12 months through our TELEmedicine for IBD trial, a multicenter, randomized controlled trial consisting of a web-based monitoring system that interacts with participants via text messaging. A total of 222 adults with IBD who had experienced an IBD flare within 2 years prior to the trial were randomized into either a control arm that received standard care (SC) or an intervention arm that completed self-testing through the TELE-IBD system every other week (EOW) or weekly (W).
Introduction: New-age technologies are ubiquitous in the lives of adolescents. Recent trends in media use suggest that adolescents are spending more time than ever engaging with technologies, and are able to do so in virtually all settings at any time. Given that new-age technologies are so heavily integrated within the daily life of adolescents, the health risks and benefits they offer must be closely examined.
