Article Synopsis
  • Supraglottic airways serve as alternatives to traditional facemask ventilation and endotracheal intubation, playing a crucial role in airway management since the late 1980s.
  • The chapter discusses key aspects of using these devices and offers an update on their current clinical practices, highlighting safe management techniques.
  • Advancements in supraglottic airway technology have improved their effectiveness in addressing modern airway challenges, benefiting both patients and medical practitioners.

Potentially difficult airways warrant the use of airway adjuncts, which, if not used with caution, can cause trauma to the oral cavity. Although most operators are familiar with modern airway adjuncts, as they are not routinely used, adverse events can occur. Since its introduction, a video laryngoscope (VL) has been lauded as a necessary instrument for airway management in and out of the operating room.

Phytocyanins (PCs) are a class of plant-specific blue copper proteins that have been demonstrated to play a role in electron transport and plant development. Through analysis of the copper ligand residues, spectroscopic properties, and domain architecture of the protein, PCs have been grouped into four subfamilies: uclacyanins (UCs), stellacyanins (SCs), plantacyanins (PLCs), and early nodulin-like proteins (ENODLs). The present study aimed to identify and characterise the PCs present in three distinct cotton species (, , and ) through the identification of 98, 63, and 69 genes respectively.

To evaluate the anti-diabetic potential of aqueous methanolic extract of Conyza bonariensis amongst the Wistar rats. Phytochemical and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analyses of phenols and flavonoids were examined. The plant extract (250 and 500mg/kg/day) was explored for its anti-hyperglycemic effect for 14 days in normoglycemic and alloxan-induced diabetic rats using the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).

In current study, we synthesized chalcone derivatives (13a-c) via base-catalyzed Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. We further treated diamino compounds with synthesized chalcones to produce 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (18a-c), 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-thione (19a-c) and 2-aminopyrimidine (20a-c) derivatives of pregnenolone by cyclization reaction. Cell viability test of synthesized steroidal chalcones and their pyrimidine and thiopyrimidine derivatives against human breast (MCF-7), human lung (A549) and human prostate (PC-3) cancer cell lines was performed using (4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), assay.
