The ketogenic diet (KD), characterized by high-fat and low-carbohydrate intake, is currently gaining widespread popularity as a treatment for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE). In addition to the traditional ketogenic diet, several variants have been introduced to enhance compliance and flexibility, such as the modified Atkins diet (MAD) and the low glycemic index diet (LGID). Level of cognitive learning in undergraduate medical students can be enhanced by a commensurate change in teaching/learning and assessment strategies. Medical institutions with integrated curriculum find it difficult to assess the integration of Basic Health Sciences knowledge. Generally, viva being one of the traditional tools of assessment, is not appropriately utilized for achieving the desired objective of assessing an amalgamation of basic sciences knowledge in pre-clinical year's examinations.

Background: Childhood obesity is a global epidemic and is associated with a higher risk of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and other metabolic disorders. Several adipokines including resistin, visfatin, leptin and adiponectin are synthesized and secreted by adipocytes, which play an important role in obesity.

Patients & Methods: A total of 90 subjects (60 controls and 30 obese) between the ages of 5 and 18 years were selected.
