Article Synopsis
  • Anthelmintic resistance in livestock is increasing globally, prompting researchers to explore alternative treatments, such as medicinal plants.
  • This study evaluates the anthelmintic effectiveness of crude ethanolic extract (CEE) from Juglans regia leaves against the parasitic nematode Ascaridia galli in poultry using both in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • Results indicate that CEE significantly inhibits the motility of A. galli worms and shows promising anthelmintic activity in treated chickens, suggesting its potential as a natural alternative to synthetic drugs.

Aim Of The Study: The growing resistance of helminth parasites to currently available commercial anthelmintic drugs, combined with apprehensions regarding detrimental chemical residues in livestock products, has sparked an interest in exploring medicinal plants as an alternative strategy for treating helminthiasis. As a result, this study was designed to investigate the anthelmintic activity of crude methanolic extracts (CME) of Saussurea costus root on Ascaridia.galli, a pathogenic nematode of poultry.

Cystic echinococcosis is a zoonotic disease that causes economic losses and public health problems throughout the globe. Present study was undertaken to estimate the seroprevalence of cystic echinococcosis in humans of South Kashmir and to determine the risk factors associated with this disease. The present study was carried out from April 2017 to March 2018, during which 458 blood samples (from 222 males and 236 females) were collected from selected subjects from 12 villages of four districts along with demographic characteristics.

In this paper, a new two-parameter discrete distribution is introduced. It belongs to the family of the weighted geometric distribution (GD), with the feature of using a particular trigonometric weight. This configuration adds an oscillating property to the former GD which can be helpful in analyzing the data with over-dispersion, as developed in this study.
