Zinc oxide nanoparticles are known to possess anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties and find wide application in the preparation of topical ointments. Wound dressings in the form of hydrogels can replenish the wound microenvironment to aid the healing process in a multidimensional way. We have fabricated a composite hydrogel using 1-3 wt.

Eggshell membrane-based biomedical applications have recently received great attention for their wound-healing properties. However, there are limited studies on diabetic wound healing. In this regard, we devised four types of composite eggshell membrane mats with nanoscale coatings of bioactive glass/Zn/Co-doped bioactive glass (ESM + BAG, ESM + ZnBAG, ESM + CoBAG, and ESM + ZnCoBAG) as wound-dressing materials for chronic nonhealing diabetic wounds.

The present work reports the effect of decellularized platelet-rich fibrin (dPRF) loaded strontium (Sr) doped porous magnesium phosphate (MgP) bioceramics on biocompatibility, biodegradability, and bone regeneration. Sustained release of growth factors from dPRF is a major objective here, which conformed to the availability of dPRF on the scaffold surface even after 7 days of in vitro degradation. dPRF-incorporated MgP scaffolds were implanted in the rabbit femoral bone defect and bone rejuvenation was confirmed by radiological examination, histological examination, fluorochrome labeling study, and micro-CT.

Immense socio-economic burden of chronic wound demands effective, low-cost strategies for wound care. Herein, we have developed a chemical crosslinker-free phyto-hydrogel by encapsulating phytochemicals of Aloe vera mucilage extract (AVM) in the self-assembled polymeric chains of two different silk fibroin (SF) proteins (from Bombyx mori and Antheraea assamensis). Additionally, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) has been used as a stabilizer that also contributed to the mucoadhesive property of the composite (SAP; made of SF, AVM, and PVP) hydrogel.

Chronic cutaneous ulcers, a complex pathophysiological diabetic condition, represent a critical clinical challenge in the current diabetes mellitus pandemic. Consequently, there is a compelling need for bioactive dressings that can trigger healing processes for complete wound repair. Silk fibroin (SF), a natural protein polymer from mulberry and non-mulberry silkworms, has properties that support accelerated wound healing rate.
