Introduction: Walking ability is essential for maintaining functional independence, but it can be impaired by conditions like hemiplegia resulting from a stroke event. In post-stroke populations, accurately assessing gait anomalies is crucial for rehabilitation to promote functional recovery, and to prevent falls or injuries.
Methods: The aim of this study is to evaluate gait-related parameters using a solution based on a single RGB-D camera, specifically Microsoft Azure Kinect DK (MAK), on a short walkway in both healthy (n= 27) and post-stroke individuals with hemiplegia (n= 20).
Objectives: This study aims to describe the impact of COVID-19 on Orthopedic and Trauma surgical activity in a single level-I trauma center in Northern Italy during the lockdown period. We proposed comparing surgical procedures performed during the outbreak and in the same period the previous year.
Methods: In this single-center retrospective epidemiological cohort study, the "lockdown cohort" of patients who were treated from March 1 to May 24, 2020, was compared to the "control cohort" who received treatment during the same period in 2019.
Purpose: Paediatric musculoskeletal injuries in association with increased participation in sports activities continue to increase. Arthroscopy is recognized as a safe and effective procedure in children. This study aims to identify trends in European paediatric sports centres over 20 years.

Methods: Patients younger than 18 years who underwent transphyseal ACL reconstruction (ACLR) between 2000 and 2018 at a single institution were reviewed at minimum 2 years after ACLR. Patient records were reviewed for anthropometrics, surgical techniques, and ACL graft failure.
Purpose: Over the last two decades the incidence of meniscal injuries has grown amongst the pediatric population predominantly due to greater involvement in sporting activities. The treatment and the natural history represent a socioeconomic burden for healthcare systems. This study demonstrates the epidemiology of meniscal tears treated surgically in Italy from 2010 to 2019 in a population up to 18 years.

The aim of this study is to summarize the published evidence about arthroscopic repair of anterior cruciate ligament proximal tears in skeletally immature patients.
Methods: In total, four studies were included and processed for data extraction after screening for eligibility for this systematic review: one retrospective cohort study and three retrospective case series.
Background: Tinnitus, which is often associated with reduced quality of life, depression, and sleep disturbances, lacks a definitive treatment targeting its pathophysiological mechanism. Inflammatory markers like TNF-α have been linked to tinnitus, thereby underlining the necessity for innovative therapies. This case study investigates the potential benefits of a multi-approach rehabilitation intervention involving whole-body cryostimulation (WBC) for a 47-year-old male suffering from chronic neurophysiologic tinnitus, who had underwent various unsuccessful treatments from 2005.

In this retrospective clinical study, we described the efficacy and safety profile of surgical debridement and local application of S53P4 bioactive glass (S53P4 BAG) in the treatment of bone infections.
Methods: A consecutive single-center series of 38 patients with chronic osteomyelitis (24) and septic non-unions (14), treated with bioactive glass S53P4 as dead space management following surgical debridement between May 2015 and November 2020, were identified and evaluated retrospectively.
Groin pain syndrome (GPS) is a controversial topic in Sports Medicine. The GPS Italian Consensus Conference on terminology, clinical evaluation and imaging assessment of groin pain in athletes was organized by the Italian Society of Arthroscopy in Milan, on 5 February 2016. In this Consensus Conference (CC) GPS etiology was divided into 11 different categories for a total of 63 pathologies.

A recognized hallmark of shoulder muscle balance is the ratio of shoulder external (ER) and internal (IR) rotators. By extension, objective measurement of shoulder muscles' strength could help identify at risk athletes and preempt those injuries by engaging in prescriptive strength training programs.

Among the cytokines, prokineticins (PKs) have recently been identified as important mediators of inflammation and pain. This observational study examined the potential involvement of PK2 in degenerative or traumatic knee disease.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 40 patients, prescreened from a larger group who had undergone arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, were resolved into two groups of 20, based on the type of anchor used in their surgery (all-suture or metallic) and were evaluated postoperatively (mean = 44.3 months, SEM = 22.
The incidence of anterior cruciate ligament injuries in skeletally immature patients has increased in recent years. The gold standard treatment of this type of trauma in children is not yet established. Conservative management may underestimate the risk of new meniscal and chondral tears; on the other hand, a more interventional approach may expose the patient to iatrogenic damage to the growth plate.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteochondritis dissecans of the knee is a disease that typically affects skeletally immature patients. Clinically manifested with knee pain, limping, and joint disfunction, this condition has remained misunderstood and undervalued for a long period. Although being a rare condition, its awareness is of utmost clinical interest because of the possible severe consequences it can bring when misrecognized or inadequately treated.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the appropriateness of the Non-Union Scoring System NUSS treatment protocol in the management of long bone non-unions by comparing it to the experience-based therapeutic approach carried out in our facility.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a comparative outcome study of a retrospective series of 89 patients surgically treated for long bone non-union in our facility vs.
Background: Clinical outcomes and potential complications associated with Bone-Patellar Tendon-Bone (BPTB) graft in skeletally immature ACL reconstruction (ACLR) are poorly defined. Considering that in Tanner 1-2 patients this kind of graft is not recommended, we focused our systematic review on the evaluation of all the studies in the literature that reported clinical outcomes and rate of complications of the ACLR using BPTB graft in Tanner 3-4 patients.
Methods: This review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA statement.
Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disorder affecting over 300 million people worldwide. It typically affects the knees and the hips, and is characterized by a loss in normal joint movement, stiffness, swelling, and pain in patients. The current gold standard therapy for osteoarthritis targets pain management using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Our objective was to carry out an umbrella review of systematic reviews to collect the most effective evidence-based treatments and to point out the state-of-the-art management for this injury. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane library were searched from January 2000 to September 2020.

We compared the clinical-functional results arising from the arthroscopic repair of shoulders, with small-medium lesions of the supraspinatus tendon, among patients using one anchor with three sutures, or two anchors with two sutures.
Methods: In this retrospective study patient were resolved into 2 groups.
Background: Mindful parenting and the use of technology for parenting intervention have expanded separately from one another with promising results, but their relationship is underexplored. The current study protocol proposes a new universal intervention via app, MINd Us TOghether (MinUTo), based on mindful parenting for parents of typically developing children of 4-5 years of age.
Methods: The effect of the intervention is evaluated using a randomised controlled trial.
Brain asymmetry is connected with motor performance, suggesting that hemiparetic patients have different gait patterns depending on the side of the lesion. This retrospective cohort study aims to further investigate the difference between right and left hemiplegia in order to assess whether the injured side can influence the patient’s clinical characteristics concerning gait, thus providing insights for new personalized rehabilitation strategies. The data from 33 stroke patients (17 with left and 16 with right hemiplegia) were retrospectively compared with each other and with a control group composed of 20 unaffected age-matched individuals.

Selection of an optimal treatment is critical and based on individual circumstances; consequently, we propose a treatment-selection algorithm based on skeletal development, ACL tear location, type, and quality, as well as parental perspective in order to facilitate the decision-making process. We combined our surgical group's extensive case histories of ACL tear management in Tanner Stage 1 and 2 patients with those in the literature to form a consolidated data base.
