Backgroud: is a herbaceous plant used in traditional Cameroonian medicine to treat diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antidiabetic properties of the aqueous extract of leaves (AEEF) in diabetic rats.
Methods: Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg) in normal rats fasted for 16 h.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Jateorhiza macrantha is a medicinal plant used in popular medicine to treat several diseases, including cardiovascular disorders. To date, there is no documented report available on the toxicological profile of this medicinal plant.
The Aim Of The Study: The present study was carried out to investigate the mineral content and the safety of the oral administration of the leaf aqueous extract of Jateorhiza macrantha in mice.
