Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effects of high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) and lenalidomide for preventing central nervous system (CNS) relapses in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who are at high risk for CNS recurrence.
  • A retrospective analysis included 200 DLBCL patients, assessing CNS relapse-free survival (CRFS), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) rates among those treated with either HD-MTX or lenalidomide, with no significant survival differences found overall.
  • Subgroup analysis revealed that while the CRFS rates were similar for high-risk patients in both groups, the lenalidom

Background: PD-1 blockade is highly efficacious for mismatch repair-deficient colorectal cancer in both metastatic and neoadjuvant settings. We aimed to explore the activity and safety of neoadjuvant therapy with PD-1 blockade plus an angiogenesis inhibitor and the feasibility of organ preservation in patients with locally advanced mismatch repair-deficient colorectal cancer.

Methods: We initiated a single-arm, open-label, phase 2 trial (NEOCAP) at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China.

Objective: To explore the short-term efficacy and adverse reactions of orelabrutinib combined with high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) in the first-line treatment of elderly high-risk primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), as well as the survival of patients.

Methods: Twenty-five elderly patients with high-risk primary central nervous system diffuse large B-cell lymphoma admitted to Fujian Provincial Hospital from June 2016 to June 2022 were enrolled in this study, and complete clinical data from all patients were collected retrospectively, and the cut-off for follow-up was December 2022. 15 patients had received temmozolomide combined with HD-MTX regimen for at least four cycles, sequential lenalidomide maintenance therapy, while 10 patients had received orelabrutinib combined with HD-MTX regimen for at least four cycles, sequential orelabrutinib maintenance therapy.

Objective: To analyze clinical response of the Rituximab-based chemotherapy and prognostic features in patients with primary gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PGDLBCL).

Methods: From June 2008 to December 2020, the data of 53 PGDLBCL patients were analyzed retrospectively.

Results: The median age was 46(25-77) years old in 53 patients including 35 males and 18 females.

This is a prospective, single center study aimed to evaluate the predictive power of peritumor and intratumor radiomics features assessed using T2 weight image (T2WI) of baseline magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in evaluating pathological good response to NAC in patients with LARC (including Tany N+ or T3/4a Nany but not T4b). In total, 137 patients with LARC received NAC between April 2014 and August 2020. All patients were undergoing contrast-enhanced MRI and 129 patients contained small field of view (sFOV) sequence which were performed prior to treatment.

Background: Uterine myoma is the most common benign tumor among women and is often accompanied by anemia. Here, we report the case of a patient with a very large leiomyoma but with a hemoglobin level as high as 197 g/L. After undergoing hysterectomy, all her hematological parameters returned to normal.

Objective: To study the effect of the DA-EPOCH chemotherapy combined with G-CSF and the CTX therapy with G-CSF on mobilizing and collecting the peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cells and the later hematopoietic recovery.

Methods: Forty patients accepted mobilization and collection of peripheral blood stem cells(PBSC) after treated by CTX+G-CSF and DA-EPOCH+G-CSF therapy respectively, and were treated by auto-transfusion after BEAM pre-regimen. The mobilization efficacy, adverse effects and hematopoietic recovery after autologous transplantation were analyzed retrospectively.

Background: China has the highest incidence of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) worldwide. Reported cases account for 90% of the total number of global cases. By 2010, approximately 1.

Background: The transmission of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is influenced by population dynamics of its main host, rodents. It is therefore important to better understand rodents' characteristic in epidemic areas.

Methodology/principal Findings: We examined the potential impact of food available and climatic variability on HFRS rodent host and developed forecasting models.

Biological experiments and epidemiological evidence indicate that variations in environment have important effect on the occurrence and transmission of epidemic influenza. It is therefore important to understand the characteristic patterns of transmission for prevention of disease and reduction of disease burden. Based on case records, we analyzed the environmental characteristics including climate variables in Changsha, and then constructed a meteorological anomaly susceptive-infective-removal (SIR) model on the basis of the results of influenza A (H1N1) transmission.

Background: Information on polymorphic DNA in organelle genomes is essential for evolutionary and ecological studies. However, it is challenging to perform high-throughput investigations of chloroplast and mitochondrial DNA polymorphisms. In recent years, EcoTILLING stands out as one of the most universal, low-cost, and high-throughput reverse genetic methods, and the identification of natural genetic variants can provide much information about gene function, association mapping and linkage disequilibrium analysis and species evolution.

Objective: To analyze the periodicity of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) in Changsha in year 2009 and its correlation with sensitive climatic factors.

Methods: The information of 5439 cases of influenza A (H1N1) and synchronous meteorological data during the period between May 22th and December 31st in year 2009 (223 days in total) in Changsha city were collected. The classification and regression tree (CART) was employed to screen the sensitive climatic factors on influenza A (H1N1); meanwhile, cross wavelet transform and wavelet coherence analysis were applied to assess and compare the periodicity of the pandemic disease and its association with the time-lag phase features of the sensitive climatic factors.

Objective: To explore the influence of landscape elements on the transmission of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Changsha.

Methods: A total of 327 cases of HFRS diagnosed between year 2005 - 2009 were recruited in the study. Based on the demographic data, meteorological data and the data of second national land survey during the same period, a GIS landscape elements database of HFRS at the township scale of Changsha was established.

Adsorption of roselle anthocynins, a natural pigment, onto various macroporous resins was optimized to develop a simple and efficient process for industrial separation and purification of roselle anthocyanins. Nine different macroporous resins (AB-8, X-5, HPD-100, SP-207, XAD-4, LS-305A, DM-21, LS-610B, and LS-305) were evaluated for the adsorption properties of the anthocyanins extracted from the calyx extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. The influences of phase contact time, solution pH, initial anthocyanin concentration, and ethanol concentration with different citric acid amounts were studied by the static adsorption/desorption method.

To determine the etiologic agents of two atypical pneumonia human cases in Hunan Province in 2005-2006 and to study their pathogenic potential, the patients' respiratory tract samples and sera were collected. The respiratory tract samples were tested by real-time RT-PCR and RT-PCR methods, and the sera by hemagglutination-inhibition assay. Virus was isolated from case 2 and its genome was sequenced and analyzed.

An F2 population derived from a cross between apetalous line' APT02 'and normal petalled cultivar 'ZS NO.4' was used for molecular marker searching and chromosomal mapping of the gene(s) controlling petal-loss trait in Brassica napus. Twenty pairs of AFLP primers and 170 pairs of SRAP primers were selected and screened from two parents.
