Purpose: Anterior chamber air injection (ACAI) is a surgical technique used to decrease the occurrence of postoperative intraocular lens (IOL) haptic dislocation following phacovitrectomy with gas/air tamponade. The impact of this technique on IOL stability remains uncertain, prompting the design of this study to investigate further.
Methods: This study included 51 eyes of 51 patients who underwent phacovitrectomy with gas/air tamponade.
Purpose: To summarize the causes of retinal arterial microaneurysm combined with branch retinal artery occlusion.
Methods: The case reports of retinal arterial microaneurysm combined with branch retinal artery occlusion were searched in PubMed, Web of Science, and CNKI databases before May 1, 2024. A total of nine participants from nine case reports were included to analyze factors leading to complications.
Steel octagon-web beam (SOWB) is a steel structure girder based on the appearance of cellular beam and assembly concept. In order to study the factors affecting deflection, parametric analysis based on finite element (FE) software ABAQUS 2017 was carried out. The factors include the opening type, expansion ratio (H/d) and height-span ratio (H/L).

Based on this characteristic, the axial tensile test of mortar, the interface and concrete specimens under intermediate strain rate was carried out in this paper. The sensitivity of these three materials to strain rate was compared and analyzed.

Inertial effect is one of the main factors that cause inaccurate results in SHPB tests of concrete materials. To solve this problem, Large-diameter SHPB tests on concrete and mortar were performed.

Rock-like brittle materials under dynamic load will show more complex dynamic mechanical properties than those under static load. The relationship between pulse waveform characteristics and strain rate effect and inertia effect is rarely discussed in the split-Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) numerical simulation research. In response to this problem, this paper discusses the effects of different pulse types and pulse waveforms on the incident waveform and dynamic response characteristics of specimens based on particle flow code (PFC).

However, the exact pathogenesis of pathologic myopia remains unclear. In this study, we screened a Han Chinese family with pathologic myopia to identify the causative mutation and explore the possible pathogenic mechanism based on evaluation of the biological functions of the mutation.

The sequences of Fullback and Fullback-like are very similar to that of the neurotrophin receptor p75NTR, in both their extracellular and their intracellular domains. As their names imply, fullback and fullback-like are expressed in essentially identical patterns in the posterior of the embryo from the early gastrula stage onward.

The comparison protocol was designed to evaluate these systems for sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and linearity. We developed parameters, thresholds, and testing conditions that could be used to differentiate various systems that spanned detection chemistry and instrumentation; probe number and selection criteria; and sample processing protocols.

In this paper we first show that derrière is able to exert long-range effects in the early Xenopus embryo, reinforcing the view that it functions as a secreted factor required for proper formation of posterior structures. Analysis of the derrière promoter shows that expression of the gene is controlled through a complex inductive network involving VegT and TGFbeta-related molecules and also, perhaps, FGF family members.

Using a yeast-based selection scheme, we isolated derrière, a novel TGF-beta family member that is closely related to Vg1 and that is required for normal mesodermal patterning, particularly in posterior regions of the embryo. Unlike Vg1, derrière is expressed zygotically, with RNA localized to the future endoderm and mesoderm by late blastula, and to the posterior mesoderm by mid-gastrula.

This method and a related one termed positive selection have their origins in nucleic acid reassociation techniques. We discuss the history of subtractive techniques, and fundamental information about the nucleic acid composition of cells that came out of reassociation analyses.

There are occasions where it is desired to increase the bond strengths of no-mix adhesives. Noncompliant patients and hypocalcified and fluorosed tooth enamel require higher bond strengths than usually obtained. It was the purpose of this investigation to study the effects of adhesion promoters to increase bond strengths.

The Drosophila hh gene has now been shown to generate two predominant protein species that are derived by an internal autoproteolytic cleavage of a larger precursor. Mutations that reduced the efficiency of autoproteolysis in vitro diminished precursor cleavage in vivo and also impaired the signaling and patterning activities of the HH protein.

We compare here the DNA sequence preferences of homeodomains encoded by four of the eight Drosophila HOM proteins. One of the four, Abdominal-B, binds preferentially to a sequence with an unusual 5'-T-T-A-T-3' core, whereas the other three prefer 5'-T-A-A-T-3'.

We report here the cooperative DNA-binding properties of a developmentally active regulatory protein encoded by the Drosophila homeotic gene Ultrabithorax (Ubx). We show that naturally occurring binding sites for the Ubx-encoded protein contain clusters of multiple individual binding site sequences.
