The main purpose of our study is to determine the outcomes of bucket handle medial meniscus tears repaired with the inside out technique in recreational sports players, and the return of these to pre-injury sports levels. 41 athletes with medial meniscus bucket handle tear were included in the study. 28 cases were associated with ACL tear while rest were isolated tears.

Osteoarthrosis is the most common form of knee arthritis, characterized by pain and discomfort from primarily articular cartilage wear. Traditionally in its end stage, it has been treated with total knee arthroplasty, a permanent process with a life span of ten to fifteen years and challenges with revision. With an increasing longevity and epidemic of obesity that the population is facing, naturally, we are seeing more and more patients with osteoarthrosis at a younger age.

Realignment osteotomies around the knee joint are used primarily for management of arthritis. Traditionally, an unstable knee has been considered a contraindication for osteotomy. But with a better understanding of biomechanics of osteotomies and their effect on ligament instabilities, the beneficial role of osteotomies in managing an unstable knee is becoming clearer.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of three-socket (3S) and double-bundle (DB) ACL reconstruction techniques compared to single-bundle (SB) methods in restoring knee movement.
  • Significant differences in knee laxity were not found across the reconstruction techniques, although 3S and DB showed comparable results to the intact state.
  • The findings suggest that while 3S can restore knee function similarly to DB, neither 3S nor DB demonstrated clear superiority over SB methods in terms of knee kinematics.

Posteromedial meniscocapsular separation of the knee has received renewed interest, with many articles describing a high incidence in association with anterior cruciate ligament injury. Various techniques have been described to address these lesions using all-inside meniscal repair sutures or using rotator cuff repair instruments through the posteromedial portal. Most orthopaedic surgeons are accustomed to using the "inside-out" meniscal repair technique with a double-armed suture.

Article Synopsis
  • Lipoma arborescens (LA) is a rare, benign growth that typically occurs in large synovial joints, especially the knee.
  • Unlike other common knee swellings, LA is located within the joint and may cause degenerative changes by mechanically interfering with the joint movement.
  • This case report emphasizes the need for accurate diagnosis using MR imaging and macroscopic appearance, as well as the necessity for appropriate surgical treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the outcomes of unipolar and bipolar uncemented hemiarthroplasty in elderly patients with hip fractures.
  • Patients who had bipolar hemiarthroplasty showed better mobility and lower mortality rates compared to those with unipolar hemiarthroplasty.
  • Factors like age, gender, and pre-surgery fitness levels influenced outcomes, with bipolar hemiarthroplasty being more beneficial for patients who were physically fit before their injury.

Cannulated AO screws are commonly used for fracture fixation. Mechanical failure of screws has been well reported but this was mainly breakage of the screw head during removal. We report an unusual mode of failure of an AO self drilling cannulated screw which we have not previously experienced, where the screw threads were found to be unravelled during insertion.
