Background: Data on the birth prevalence of congenital anomalies in low- and middle-income countries report wide variations in prevalence estimates. We conducted a scoping review to identify the sources of bias in studies reporting birth prevalence of congenital anomalies in World Health Organization South-East Asia region (SEAR) countries.
Methods: PubMed and Google Scholar databases were screened for relevant literature.
Ehrlichiosis is a tickborne illness that can lead to an increased risk of death without appropriate treatment. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a rise in incidence. We present a case of an immunocompetent patient who reported tick removal after hiking.

Introduction: Fragile X syndrome is an inherited X-linked disorder associated with intellectual disabilities that begin in childhood and last a lifetime. The symptoms overlap with autism spectrum disorder, and the syndrome predominantly affects males. Consequently, FXS research tends to favor analysis of social behaviors in males, leaving a gap in our understanding of other behavioral traits, especially in females.

However, there is room for improvement to address key limitations such as the pre-existing immunity to AAV in patients, high-dose toxicity, and relatively low efficiency for some cell types. This study introduces a metabolic engineering approach, using knockout of the enzyme phosphatidylserine synthase 1 (PTDSS1) to increase the abundance of extracellular vesicle-enclosed AAV (EV-AAV) relative to free AAV in the supernatant of producer cells, simplifying downstream purification processes.

However, the benefit remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of time-lapse imaging systems providing undisturbed culture and embryo selection, and time-lapse imaging systems providing only undisturbed culture, and compared each with standard care without time-lapse imaging.

We conducted an analysis of 106 clinic websites that offer fertility treatment to self-funded patients. The analysis aimed to examine whether these clinics offer TLI, the associated cost for patients, and the clarity and quality of the provided information.

Method: Nicotine exposure of C57BL/6 or Swiss Webster mice occurred during prenatal period only or during the prenatal and the pre-weaning periods. Behavioral, neuroanatomical and neurotransmitter assays were used to investigate neurobiological mechanisms of ADHD and discover candidate ADHD medications.
Background: There is no consensus on tests required to either diagnose unexplained infertility or use for research inclusion criteria. This leads to heterogeneity and bias affecting meta-analysis and best practice advice.
Objectives: This systematic review analyses the variability of inclusion criteria applied to couples with unexplained infertility.

According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 14.5 million people ages 12 and older had alcohol abuse disorder. Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) can be defined as a collection of physical symptoms experienced due to abrupt cessation of alcohol after long-term dependence.

Cardiac dysfunction in these patients is suspected to be secondary to catecholamine induced cardiac myocyte injury via cyclic AMP-mediated calcium overload or due to endothelial dysfunction. Even though left ventricular dysfunction in takotsubo cardiomyopathy is transient, it can lead to acute complications.

Millions of individuals consume substances such as artificial sweeteners daily that are declared safe by regulatory agencies without evaluation of their potential heritable effects. We show that consumption of aspartame, an FDA-approved artificial sweetener, daily for up to 16-weeks at doses equivalent to only 7-15% of the FDA recommended maximum daily intake value (equivalent to 2-4 small, 8 oz diet soda drinks per day) produces significant spatial learning and memory deficits in mice.

Such exudative effusions with transudative etiologies are referred to as "pseduoexudates". In this review, we discuss a practical approach to correctly classify an effusion that may be a pseudoexudate.

It is in the serotonin-antagonist-and-reuptake-inhibitor class of medications with anti-cholinergic effects. Trazodone is known for its sedative effects and is hence often prescribed in those with MDD with concurrent insomnia.

Box-Behnken design was used for preparation of optimized formulation using solvent casting method. In this design, different concentrations of mucoadhesive polymers HPMC E15, Eudragit RL100, and Eudragit RS100 were considered as independent variables and its effect on responses like percent drug release, swelling index at 12 h, and folding endurance of the film were examined.

The burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obesity is very high in the United States. We aimed to use the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) to evaluate the impact of obesity on the outcomes of patients hospitalized with COPD exacerbation.

Here, we present a case of a woman in her 60s, who presented with symptoms and signs consistent with meningitis, imaging findings suggestive of possible leptomeningeal carcinomatosis a long with areas of lung consolidation and abdominal nodules and lymphadenopathy, presumably metastatic malignancy. We diagnosed Klebsiella invasive syndrome and treated it conservatively with medical management, including a long course of intravenous antibiotic therapy and supportive care.

There are currently large gaps in unit cost data for TB, and substantial variation in the quality and methods of unit cost estimates. Uncertainties remain about sample size, range and comprehensiveness of cost data collection for different purposes. We present the methods and results of a project implemented in Kenya, Ethiopia, India, The Philippines and Georgia to estimate unit costs of TB services, focusing on findings most relevant to these remaining methodological challenges.
