Introduction: We present a case of drug-induced vasculitis secondary to low-dose hydralazine with overlapping features of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis and drug-induced lupus nephritis.

Case Presentation: A 52-year-old Hispanic woman with a medical history of resistant hypertension treated with hydralazine 10 mg twice daily for 1 year presented with generalized weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and gross hematuria. There was fever, tachycardia, leukocytosis, lactic acidosis, hyperkalemia, renal failure, and anemia.

This work adopts a game theoretic approach to analyze the behavior of transmitter nanomachines (TNMs) in a diffusive 3-dimensional (3-D) channel. In order to communicate the local observations about the region of interest (RoI) to a common supervisor nanomachine (SNM), TNMs transmit information-carrying molecules to SNM. Flecainide is an antiarrhythmic agent that has been reported to have numerous cardiotoxic effects, including the development of arrhythmias and the reduction of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). However, it is not commonly reported as a cause for left bundle branch block and cardiomyopathy. In this case report, we present the case of a 67-year-old female patient who developed transient cardiomyopathy and left bundle branch block (LBBB) secondary to flecainide therapy.

Annular Rupture Due to Calcified Nodule Located in Left Ventricular Outflow Tract (LVOT) During Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Managed by Protamine Sulfate.

Annular rupture is a rare yet fatal complication of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The likelihood of annular rupture is increased by the presence of extensive subannular calcification, excessive balloon dilatation for valve expansion or aggressive valve oversizing to prevent paravalvular leakage during TAVR. Although extensive annular or aortic root calcification increases the likelihood of annular rupture, rupture due to the presence of a calcified nodule in the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) is not commonly reported.

Institution of Standardized Consultation Criteria to Increase Early Palliative Care Utilization in Older Patients With Acute Leukemia.

Purpose: Older patients with acute leukemia (AL) have a high symptom burden and poor prognosis. Although integration of palliative care (PC) with oncologic care has been shown to improve quality-of-life and end-of-life care in patients with AL, the malignant hematologists at our tertiary care hospital make limited use of PC services and do so late in the disease course. Using the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) methodology, we aimed to increase early PC utilization by older patients with newly diagnosed AL.

The temperature evolution of the resonant Raman scattering from high-quality bilayer 2H-MoS[Formula: see text] encapsulated in hexagonal BN flakes is presented. The observed resonant Raman scattering spectrum as initiated by the laser energy of 1.96 eV, close to the A excitonic resonance, shows rich and distinct vibrational features that are otherwise not observed in non-resonant scattering.

Cytomorphological Analysis and Interpretation of Nitric Oxide-Mediated Neurotoxicity in Sleep-Deprived Mice Model.

Background: Sleep deprivation (SD) is a biological stress condition for the brain, and the pathogenesis of SD is closely related to elevated oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, a major cause of neurodegeneration. This oxidative stress-mediated cell death is attributed to rise in calcium ion influx which further excites or alters the neurotransmitters level by activating neuronal nitric oxide (NO) synthase (nNOS) release of NO in mouse SD model. This study indicates that the nitrergic neurons are possible therapeutic targets for the amelioration of SD-induced cognitive dysfunction and behavioral alterations.

The basis of the work was to design an electronic data capture tool and to prospectively gather data on usability from bedside clinicians during national health system stress queries and influenza observational studies.

Objective: The aim of this paper is to describe the lessons learned in the design and implementation of a novel electronic data capture tool with the goal of significantly increasing the nation's capability to manage real-time data collection and analysis during PHE.
