Background: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a safe and effective treatment for several major psychiatric conditions, including treatment-resistant depression, mania, and schizophrenia; nevertheless, its use remains controversial. Despite its availability in some European countries, ECT is still rarely used in others. This study aims to investigate the experiences and attitudes of early career psychiatrists (ECPs) across Europe towards ECT and to examine how their exposure to ECT influences their perceptions.

To describe the triple S technique for aiding the visualization (staining), preparation (sizing), and placement (sliding) of human amniotic membrane grafts in cases of refractory macular holes (MHs). Brilliant blue-green dye was used to stain the graft before insertion for improved visualization and to aid in its orientation. Preoperative optical coherence tomography-based sizing of the graft was performed, and a dermal trephine was used to fashion the graft according to size.

Dye degradation presents a persistent challenge in addressing water pollution. While several methods, including adsorption, biodegradation, and advanced oxidation processes, have been extensively explored, photocatalysis remains one of the most effective techniques. Conventional photocatalytic dye degradation processes often rely on expensive light sources and are time-intensive.

Flavopiridol is a flavone synthesized from the natural product rohitukine, which is derived from an Indian medicinal plant, namely . A deeper understanding of the biological mechanisms by which such molecules act may allow scientists to develop effective therapeutic strategies against a variety of life-threatening diseases, such as cancer, viruses, fungal infections, parasites, and neurodegenerative diseases. Mechanistic insight of flavopiridol reveals its potential for kinase inhibitory activity of CDKs (cyclin-dependent kinases) and other kinases, leading to the inhibition of various processes, including cell cycle progression, apoptosis, tumor proliferation, angiogenesis, tumor metastasis, and the inflammation process.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combination (FDC) of dapagliflozin (10 mg) and linagliptin (5 mg) in comparison to linagliptin 5 mg (Trajenta) in patients with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on metformin monotherapy.

Methods: The double-blind, randomized, multicentric, parallel-group phase III trial screened 287 adult patients with T2DM (age 18-65 years) from 16 sites across India. The recruited subjects were undergoing metformin monotherapy ≥ 1000 mg/day for at least 28 days.

Drug-coated balloons (DCB) offer an excellent alternative to stents as the antiproliferative drugs are delivered via balloons and hence there is no permanent implant of metal or polymer. This rationale applies perfectly in in-stent restenosis (ISR) as we want to avoid another layer of metal in a previously failed stent. However, their use has also been extended to de novo lesions especially in patients and lesion subsets where stents are not ideal.

Article Synopsis
  • Opioid Use Disorders (OUDs) are linked to cognitive impairments that can increase the risk of relapse, and these impairments persist even after stopping drug use.
  • Targeted management is needed for these cognitive deficits since traditional treatments like psychotherapies and neuromodulation have limitations.
  • Some studies indicate that cognition-enhancing drugs, such as donepezil and memantine, may help reverse opioid-induced cognitive issues, prompting exploration of nootropics for improving cognitive function in individuals with OUDs.
