Objective: The main aim of this study was to investigate the perinatal outcomes of dichorionic twin pregnancies complicated by selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR).

Introduction: The objective of the study was to compare the accuracy of the ductus venosus pulsatility index (DV PI) with that of the cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) for the prediction of adverse perinatal outcome at two gestational ages: <34 and ≥34 weeks' gestation.

Material And Methods: This was a retrospective study of 169 high-risk pregnancies (72 < 34 and 97 ≥ 34 weeks) that underwent an ultrasound examination of CPR, DV Doppler and estimated fetal weight at 22-40 weeks. The CPR and DV PI were converted into multiples of the median, and the estimated fetal weight into centiles according to local references.

Adverse neonatal outcome in twin pregnancy complicated by small-for-gestational age: twin vs singleton reference charts.

Objective: The use of twin-specific vs singleton growth charts in the assessment of twin pregnancy has been controversial. The aim of this study was to assess whether a diagnosis of small-for-gestational age (SGA) made using twin-specific estimated-fetal-weight (EFW) and birth-weight (BW) charts is associated more strongly with adverse neonatal outcomes in twin pregnancies, compared with when the diagnosis is made using singleton charts.

Methods: This was a cohort study of twin pregnancies delivered at St George's Hospital, London, between January 2007 and May 2020.

Distribution of Orientia tsutsugamushi in rodents and mites collected from Central India.

Orientia tsutsugamushi, the causative agent of scrub typhus, is an obligate intracytosolic bacterium transmitted among humans and small mammals by some species of larval trombiculid mites (chiggers). It has been recognized as a pathogen of major public health concern in the Asia-Pacific region. As disease is considered as a neglected, there exists a gap in our knowledge of the disease with regard to the sporadic epidemiologic data in endemic areas.

Prevalence and Phylogenetic Analysis of Orientia tsutsugamushi in Rodents and Mites from Central India.

Orientia tsutsugamushi, the causative agent of scrub typhus in humans, is an obligate intracytosolic bacterium transmitted among animals and to humans by some species of larval trombiculid mites (chiggers) and is hosted mainly by rodents. In this study, we attempted detection of O. tsutsugamushi from blood and tissue samples of rodents trapped from different locations in Central India using PCR targeting the 56 kDa outer membrane protein gene and the 47 kDa high temperature transmembrane protein gene.

Reinstate hydrogen peroxide as the product of alternative oxidase of plant mitochondria.

Chill treatment of potato tubers for 8 days induced mitochondrial O2 consumption by cyanide-insensitive alternative oxidase (AOX). About half of the total O2 consumption in such mitochondria was found to be sensitive to salicylhydroxamate (SHAM), a known inhibitor of AOX activity. Addition of catalase to the reaction mixture of AOX during the reaction decreased the rate of SHAM-sensitive O2 consumption by nearly half, and addition at the end of the reaction released half of the O2 consumed by AOX, both typical of catalase action on H2O2.

Introduction: The UK has a higher mortality for colon cancer than the European average. The UK Government introduced a 2-week referral target for patients with colorectal symptoms meeting certain criteria and 62-day target for the delivery of treatment from the date of referral for those patients diagnosed with cancer. Hospitals are expected to meet 100% and 95% of these targets, respectively; therefore, an efficient and effective patient pathway is required to deliver diagnosis and treatment within this period.

Evidence for H(2)O(2) as the product of reduction of oxygen by alternative oxidase in mitochondria from potato tubers.

Oxygen consumption by alternative oxidase (AOX), present in mitochondria of many angiosperms, is known to be cyanide-resistant in contrast to cytochrome oxidase. Its activity in potato tuber (Solanum tuberosum L.) was induced following chilling treatment at 4 degrees C.

Role of respiration in plant growth remains an enigma. Growth of meristematic cells, which are not photosynthetic, is entirely driven by endogenous respiration. Does respiration determine growth and size or does it merely burn off the carbon depleting the biomass? We show here that respiration of the germinating rice seed, which is contributed largely by the meristematic cells of the embryo, quantitatively correlates with the dynamics of much of plant growth, starting with the time for germination to the time for flowering and yield.

Evaluation of two multidrug regimen in hospitalised multibacillary cases.
