Objective: The main aim of this study was to investigate the perinatal outcomes of dichorionic twin pregnancies complicated by selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR).
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Setting: Tertiary reference centre.
Introduction: The objective of the study was to compare the accuracy of the ductus venosus pulsatility index (DV PI) with that of the cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) for the prediction of adverse perinatal outcome at two gestational ages: <34 and ≥34 weeks' gestation.
Material And Methods: This was a retrospective study of 169 high-risk pregnancies (72 < 34 and 97 ≥ 34 weeks) that underwent an ultrasound examination of CPR, DV Doppler and estimated fetal weight at 22-40 weeks. The CPR and DV PI were converted into multiples of the median, and the estimated fetal weight into centiles according to local references.
Microorganisms have dynamic and complex interactions with their hosts. Diverse microbial communities residing near, on, and within the plants, called phytobiome, are an essential part of plant health and productivity. Exploiting citrus-associated microbiomes represents a scientific approach toward sustained and environment-friendly module of citrus production, though periodically exposed to several threats, with Huanglongbing (HLB) predominantly being most influential.

The aim of this study was to assess whether a diagnosis of small-for-gestational age (SGA) made using twin-specific estimated-fetal-weight (EFW) and birth-weight (BW) charts is associated more strongly with adverse neonatal outcomes in twin pregnancies, compared with when the diagnosis is made using singleton charts.
Methods: This was a cohort study of twin pregnancies delivered at St George's Hospital, London, between January 2007 and May 2020.
Twin pregnancies are commonly assessed using singleton growth and birth weight reference charts. This practice has led to a significant number of twins labelled as small for gestational age (SGA), causing unnecessary interventions and increased risk of iatrogenic preterm birth. However, the use of twin-specific charts remains controversial.

The aim of this study was to investigate the association between twin growth disorders and HDP. Twin pregnancies resulting in two live births at St George's Hospital between 2000 and 2019 were included.

Orientia tsutsugamushi, the causative agent of scrub typhus, is an obligate intracytosolic bacterium transmitted among humans and small mammals by some species of larval trombiculid mites (chiggers). It has been recognized as a pathogen of major public health concern in the Asia-Pacific region. As disease is considered as a neglected, there exists a gap in our knowledge of the disease with regard to the sporadic epidemiologic data in endemic areas.

In this study, we attempted detection of O. tsutsugamushi from blood and tissue samples of rodents trapped from different locations in Central India using PCR targeting the 56 kDa outer membrane protein gene and the 47 kDa high temperature transmembrane protein gene.

Chill treatment of potato tubers for 8 days induced mitochondrial O2 consumption by cyanide-insensitive alternative oxidase (AOX). About half of the total O2 consumption in such mitochondria was found to be sensitive to salicylhydroxamate (SHAM), a known inhibitor of AOX activity. Addition of catalase to the reaction mixture of AOX during the reaction decreased the rate of SHAM-sensitive O2 consumption by nearly half, and addition at the end of the reaction released half of the O2 consumed by AOX, both typical of catalase action on H2O2.

The UK Government introduced a 2-week referral target for patients with colorectal symptoms meeting certain criteria and 62-day target for the delivery of treatment from the date of referral for those patients diagnosed with cancer. Hospitals are expected to meet 100% and 95% of these targets, respectively; therefore, an efficient and effective patient pathway is required to deliver diagnosis and treatment within this period.

Does respiration determine growth and size or does it merely burn off the carbon depleting the biomass? We show here that respiration of the germinating rice seed, which is contributed largely by the meristematic cells of the embryo, quantitatively correlates with the dynamics of much of plant growth, starting with the time for germination to the time for flowering and yield.

Controversies exist concerning the presence of absence of the remodeling process in diseased human coronary saphenous vein bypass grafts. The purpose of the study was to observe the vessel and lumen dimensions in patients who had undergone saphenous vein grafting with intravascular ultrasound to find out whether the remodeling process exists in the diseased human saphenous vein bypass grafts.
