Jacquet's erosive dermatitis (JED) is a severe irritant dermatitis characterized by erosive genital and perianal lesions, often misdiagnosed due to overlapping clinical features. This case report presents two adult cases of JED with distinct clinical and dermoscopic findings. Dermoscopy revealed a characteristic polymorphic vascular pattern, including short linear, curved, coiled, dotted, and globular vessels, aiding in the diagnosis and differentiation from similar conditions.

The aim of this multicentric observational retrospective was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of polarised and ultraviolet-induced fluorescence (UVF) dermoscopic examination in both fair and dark skin, also assessing possible differences according to the skin tone.
Methods: Consecutive patients with a diagnosis of scabies were eligible.
Background: Myocardial deformation by speckle tracking echocardiography provides valuable information on the left ventricular function. The study aims to assess myocardial deformation in terms of left ventricular strain as an indicator of myocardial function in children after cardiac surgery at outpatient follow-up visits.
Methods: The study design was a prospective observational cross-sectional study that included pediatric patients after biventricular cardiac surgery during the postoperative follow-up visits in the outpatient department.
Shifting cultivation, an age-old agricultural practice, is a major factor in forest cover change across Southeast Asia, where repeated cycles of vegetation disturbance and regrowth lead to far-reaching environmental and socio-economic impacts. The present study aims to assess the spatio-temporal patterns of vegetation disturbance and regrowth caused by shifting cultivation in Tripura state of India, over the past three decades, utilizing temporal segmentation of time-series Landsat data. The study analyzed vegetation disturbance and regrowth patterns in a shifting cultivation landscape from 1991 to 2020 using normalized burn ratio trends through LandTrendr, validated by the TimeSync tool.

Studies in children have identified EAH to be stable over time, but findings are unclear on whether it predicts the development of adiposity, particularly in middle childhood, a period of increased autonomy over food choices.
Objectives: We hypothesized that EAH would remain stable and be associated with increased adiposity over a ≥1-y prospective study in 7-8-y old children without obesity.
Background: Aligned with the Health Sector Transformation Strategy of Saudi Vision 2030, the study analyzed the attitudes and behaviors of cardiologists toward change and identified factors that could either facilitate or hinder the success of leadership interventions. At our cardiac center, the cath lab department is at the forefront of operations, accounting for 80% of the procedures. Our team members may not be fully equipped with the necessary attitudes and behaviors to drive successful improvement projects.

Background Leprosy is known to be a great mimicker. Its dermatoscopic evaluation may be of value in establishing diagnosis. Objective To study the dermatoscopic findings encountered across the leprosy spectrum.

The echocardiographic evaluation of the aortic arch in the context of vascular rings in children has received little attention. This article details the step-by-step echocardiographic assessment of the aortic arch in vascular ring patients.

Moreover, the genetic background of childhood cardiomyopathies (CMs) has not been elucidated well.
Objective: The study highlights the value of genetic assessment in diagnosing and family counseling for CHD and pediatric CM patients referred to the genetic clinic in a pediatric cardiology department.
The contribution of de novo variants as a cause of intellectual disability (ID) is well established in several cohorts reported from the developed world. However, the genetic landscape as well as the appropriate testing strategies for identification of de novo variants of these disorders remain largely unknown in low-and middle-income countries like India. In this study, we delineate the clinical and genotypic spectrum of 54 families (55 individuals) with syndromic ID harboring rare de novo variants.

Methods: In this prospective study, demographic and clinical data along with first line metabolic test results [blood glucose, arterial blood sample analysis, renal function tests, uric acid, serum electrolytes, liver function tests (LFTs), plasma ammonia, arterial blood lactate and pyruvate, urine ketone/ reducing substances] were documented and analyzed. Tandem Mass Spectroscopy (TMS) and Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) data were also analysed.
Ghrelin, a stomach-derived orexigenic hormone, has a well-established role in energy homeostasis, food reward, and emotionality. Noradrenergic neurons of the locus coeruleus (LC) are known to play an important role in arousal, emotion, cognition, but recently have also been implicated in control of feeding behavior. Ghrelin receptors (the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, GHSR) may be found in the LC, but the behavioral effects of ghrelin signaling in this area are still unexplored.

This study aims to describe the workload and the need for pediatric cardiac services in a maternity hospital for newborn referrals. Moreover, the study describes the indications for neonatal cardiology consultations.

TNBC lacks the expression of major hormonal receptors like estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 and is further subdivided into androgen receptor (AR) positive and AR negative. In contrast, AR negative is also known as quadruple-negative breast cancer (QNBC).

Complete KD fulfills the main clinical criteria, while incomplete KD includes patients with fewer main criteria and compatible laboratory or echocardiographic findings. The study compares the demographic, clinical, laboratory, and echocardiographic parameters between the complete and incomplete KD and early and late presenters.

The aims of this systematic review were to summarize the current state of knowledge on inflammoscopy applied to skin of color and provide a standardized nomenclature of reported findings. Besides dermoscopic features, type of setting and magnification, number of cases, and histopathological correlation were analyzed.

Although most of the knowledge on this topic comes from studies involving light-skinned patients, there is growing evidence about its use also in dark phototypes. This systematic literature review summarizes published data on dermoscopy of parasitic, bacterial, viral and fungal dermatoses (dermoscopic findings, used setting, pathological correlation, and level of evidence of studies) and provides a homogeneous terminology of reported dermoscopic features according to a standardized methodology.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHair and scalp disorders are of significant interest for physicians dealing with dark phototypes due to their prevalence and potential aesthetic impact resulting from a higher tendency for scarring. In order to facilitate their non-invasive diagnosis, several dermoscopic studies have been published, yet data are sparse and no systematic analysis of the literature has been performed so far. This systematic literature review summarizes published data on trichoscopy of hair and scalp diseases (trichoscopic findings, used setting, pathological correlation, and level of evidence of studies).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOver the last few decades, dermoscopy has been showed to facilitate the non-invasive diagnosis of both benign and malignant skin tumors, yet literature data mainly comes from studies on light photo-types. However, there is growing evidence that skin neoplasms may benefit from dermoscopic assessment even for skin of color. This systematic literature review evaluated published data in dark-skinned patients (dermoscopic features, used setting, pathological correlation, and level of evidence of studies), also providing a standardized and homogeneous terminology for reported dermoscopic findings.
