Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate whether the use of carbon dioxide (CO) angiography decreases the intraoperative use of iodine contrast medium (ICM), thereby decreasing the risk of developing postoperative renal damage in patients undergoing iliac branch device (IBD) implantation.

Methods: Patients undergoing IBD implantation at a single tertiary center between May 2013 and August 2019 were screened for inclusion in the study. A cohort of patients in whom an intraoperative imaging protocol using predominantly CO was compared with a control group in whom ICM was used (CO and ICM groups).

Article Synopsis
  • Pregnancy can increase anxiety, affecting both moms and babies, and a review of 33 studies looked at how music therapy can help alleviate this anxiety.*
  • The study included various music therapy methods and involved women in different pregnancy situations, like IVF and high-risk cases, showing consistent reductions in anxiety and improvements in pregnancy outcomes.*
  • The findings support music therapy as a beneficial, drug-free way to manage anxiety during pregnancy, suggesting it could be integrated into regular prenatal care, while also emphasizing the need for more research in this area.*

Objectives: Chronic anaemia is a significant health concern, particularly among women of childbearing age. Factors such as menstrual blood loss, childbirth, inadequate nutrition, closely spaced pregnancies, and recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding increase the risk of anaemia. This study investigated whether current contraceptive methods are associated with anaemia in Indian women of reproductive age.

Organic-inorganic hybrid nanocomposites (OIHN), with tailored surface chemistry, offer ultra-sensitive architecture capable of detecting ultra-low concentrations of target analytes with precision. In the present work, a novel nano-biosensor was fabricated, acquainting dynamic synergy of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) decorated hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (hBNNS) for detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Extensive spectroscopic and microscopic analyses confirmed the successful hydrothermal synthesis of cross-linked rGO-hBNNS nanocomposite.

Candida auris is an invasive fungal pathogen of high concern due to acquired drug tolerance against antifungals used in clinics. The prolonged persistence on biotic and abiotic surfaces can result in onset of hospital outbreaks causing serious health threat. An in depth understanding of pathology of C.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the risk of radiation-induced cancer development in patients that have undergone an infrarenal EVAR, stratifying the relative contributions of the procedure and the preoperative and postoperative CTAs.

Methods And Materials: The organ-specific absorbed radiation doses from CTA and the EVAR procedure were estimated from the radiation exposures of 95 and 45 male patients, respectively. Lifetime attributable risk (LAR) cancer predictions were calculated for 14 different organs.

Background: Pregnancy registration is one of the most critical components of women's reproductive health because it is the gateway to entering the continuum of care services such as antenatal care, institutional delivery, and postnatal care. There is a lack of studies exploring the relationship between pregnancy intention and pregnancy registration, especially in the Indian context.

Method: This study used the National Family Health Survey-5 (2019-21) data to explore the relationship between birth intention and failure of pregnancy registration.

Background: Despite the consistent prevalence of unintended pregnancies in India and its adverse impact on maternal and neonatal mortality, the literature discussing socioeconomic inequality remains scarce. This study aims to assess the change in wealth-related inequalities in unintended pregnancy in India from 2005-2006 to 2019-20 and to quantify the contribution of various factors towards inequality.

Methods: The present study analyzed cross-sectional data from the third and fifth rounds of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS).

Background Urinary albumin creatinine ratio (ACR) is a known method of measurement of microalbuminuria. Microalbuminuria may be an early marker of endothelial dysfunction which can lead to various complications during the course of pregnancy. The objective of our study was to evaluate the correlation of mid-trimester spot urinary ACR with the pregnancy outcome.

Adenomyosis is a benign gynaecological condition in multiparous women during their middle age commonly presenting as pelvic pain and menorrhagia. We report a case of a 27-year-old nulligravida of Asian origin from the Indian subcontinent who presented with a huge adenomyotic uterus with mild splenomegaly, and portal cavernoma having gross ascites that developed life-threatening peritonitis and septicaemia. Endometrial aspiration done showed no atypia or malignancy and upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy done showed no dilated varices.

Background: The optimal imaging follow-up after infrarenal EVAR is still undefined. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcome of a personalized follow-up program after infrarenal EVAR based on ultrasound AAA diameter measurements for low-risk patients.

Methods: All consecutive patients followed-up locally after elective and acute infrarenal EVAR between 2010 and 2015 were retrospectively reviewed.

Swine influenza virus (SIV) belongs to family Orthomyxoviridae and can cause acute respiratory infection in pigs. Several pandemic H1N1 human fatal influenza cases were reported in India. Though pigs are predisposed to both avian and human influenza virus infections with the potential to generate novel reassortants, there are only a few reports of SIV in Indian pigs.

A novel Strandberg type polyoxomolybdate based organic-inorganic hybrid solid, [{4,4'-Hbpy}{4,4'-Hbpy}{HPMoO}]·5HO (1) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The structure consists of a discrete type phosphomolybdate cluster, [HPMoO], connected with three protonated 4,4'-bipyridine molecules by strong hydrogen bonding interactions. The In vitro anti-tumoral activity of compound (1) was tested against human breast cancer (MCF-7), human lung cancer (A549) and human liver cancer (HepG2) cells.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the long-term outcomes of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for symptomatic versus asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) at a tertiary center, focusing on patients treated with a Cook Zenith stent graft between 1998 and 2012.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 680 patients, finding no significant difference in technical success rates and freedom from reinterventions between the two groups, but higher 30-day mortality in symptomatic AAAs.
  • Although symptomatic AAAs showed lower rates of assisted clinical success and higher late AAA-related death rates compared to asymptomatic AAAs, overall survival rates were comparable when considering long-term outcomes.

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and midterm outcomes of iliac branch devices (IBDs) to preserve the internal iliac artery perfusion in emergent endovascular repair of ruptured aorto-iliac aneurysms.

Methods: Between December 2012 and July 2017, a total of 8 IBDs were implanted in 6 patients (the median age 65 years; all men) in a single tertiary referral center. The indication for IBD implantation was a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm with a concomitant common iliac artery aneurysm (n = 4) or isolated CIA aneurysms (n = 2).

Objective: To assess the long-term results of elective abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair with a single stent graft system.

Methods: Patients undergoing elective, infrarenal endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) with a single-stent graft system between 1998 and 2012 were analyzed retrospectively registering pre-, intra-, and postoperative data. All imaging was reviewed.
