Stump appendicitis is a known post-appendectomy entity causing right lower quadrant abdominal pain. Usually, a patient with a prior history of appendectomy presents to the emergency room with right lower quadrant abdominal pain and stump appendicitis, which is visualized on computed tomography of the abdomen pelvis. We report a case of stump appendicitis diagnosed by colonoscopy and subsequently confirmed by surgery.

Background: The incidence of patients with previous history of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) presenting for aortic valvular replacement has been consistently on the rise. Repeat sternotomy for surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) carries an inherent risk of morbidity and mortality when compared to Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Methods: The Nationwide inpatient sample (NIS) from 2012 to 2014 was queried using the International Classification of Diseases-Ninth edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) codes to identify all patients ≥ 18 years with prior CABG who underwent TAVR (35.
Purpose: We aimed to explore the hypothesis that early subclinical cardiac chamber dysfunction secondary to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma could be signaled by abnormal cardiac mechanics demonstrated by velocity vector imaging.
Methods: Echocardiographic images were acquired from the apical views in 23 metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients. All patients had baseline and at least a 3-month follow-up echocardiogram after receiving TKI therapy.
Background: Trastuzumab has substantially improved overall survival and reduced the risk of disease recurrence in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor type II (HER-II)-positive breast cancer. However, this benefit may be at the increased risk of cardiotoxicity. We aimed to explore the early subclinical left and right ventricular as well as atrial dysfunction, in trastuzumab-treated patients with HER-II-positive breast cancer, using velocity vector imaging.
