Ras signaling and glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) biosynthesis are mutually inhibitory in (Sc). The inhibition is mediated via an interaction of yeast Ras2 with the Eri1 subunit of its GPI--acetylglucosaminyl transferase (GPI-GnT), the enzyme catalyzing the very first GPI biosynthetic step. In contrast, Ras signaling and GPI biosynthesis in (Ca) are mutually activated and together control the virulence traits of the human fungal pathogen.

Steroid hormone receptor based gene delivery systems as potential oral cancer therapeutics.

Glucocorticoid and Mineralocorticoid receptors are principally ligand-dependent intracellular transcription factors that are known to influence the development and growth of many human cancers. Our study investigates the potential of these receptors to act as a target for oral cancer treatment since findings in this regard are sparse till date. Leveraging the aberrant behavior of steroid hormone receptors (SHRs) in cancer, we have targeted oral cancer cells in 2D-culture using liposomes containing both synthetic as well as crude, natural SHR ligands isolated from an aqueous Indian medicinal plant.

Systemic Sclerosis with Inflammatory Myositis: A Case Report.

Unlabelled: The overlap of systemic sclerosis and inflammatory myositis is a rare disorder which results in immune system activation and production of autoantibodies. We present a case of a 28-year-old female with complaints of generalized weakness, multiple joint pain, facial puffiness, and blackish discolouration of skin over the last 4 months. Blood investigations demonstrated autoantibodies positive for overlap syndrome.

Agenesis of Dorsal Pancreas in a Young Adult: A Case Report.

Unlabelled: Dorsal agenesis of the pancreas is an exceedingly rare congenital anomaly where the dorsal part of the pancreas fails to develop properly during embryonic development. We report a case of partial agenesis of the dorsal pancreas in a 27-year-old female who presented with progressively worsening abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, generalized weakness, easy fatigability, and dizziness. Physical examination revealed fair general condition with stable vital signs and normal abdominal and other system findings.

Effect of Music Therapy on Intensity of Labor Pain among Primigravid Mothers admitted in a Tertiary Level Hospital.

Background: Childbirth is a most welcomed and positive life experience for the majority of women, despite the pain. Most of them manage it well with minimal assistance while few of them require some intervention to reduce the pain. The objective of this study was to find out the effect of music therapy on intensity of labor pain among primigravid women.

Operationalising targeted next-generation sequencing for routine diagnosis of drug-resistant TB.

Background: Phenotypic drug susceptibility testing (pDST) for can take up to 8 weeks, while conventional molecular tests identify a limited set of resistance mutations. Targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS) offers rapid results for predicting comprehensive drug resistance, and this study sought to explore its operational feasibility within a public health laboratory in Mumbai, India.

Methods: Pulmonary samples from consenting patients testing Xpert MTB-positive were tested for drug resistance by conventional methods and using tNGS.

Realization of a DNA biosensor using inverted Lamb wave MEMS resonator based on ZnO/SiO/Si/ZnO membrane.

A novel technique based on inverted Lamb wave MEMS resonator has been exploited for the realization of a DNA biosensor. Zinc oxide based Lamb wave MEMS resonator in the inverted configuration of ZnO/SiO/Si/ZnO is fabricated for label free and efficient detection of Neisseria meningitidis, responsible for bacterial meningitis. Meningitis remains a devastating endemic in sub-Saharan Africa.

Background: Perimenopause is a period of physiologic changes in the women's lives when they approach reproductive senescence along with temporal changes in health and quality of life. During this period, many women present with problems of hot flushes; altered mood and sleep; and vaginal and sexual changes. The objective of this study was to identify the health problems experienced and perception towards menopause among perimenopausal women of Kathmandu.

Undergraduate Medical Science Students' Positive Attitude towards Online Classes during COVID-19 Pandemic in a Medical College: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.

This situation created an opportunity to transform the conventional learning methods into an online or virtual method using various digital platforms. Ultra-sensitive reusable SERS sensor for multiple hazardous materials detection on single platform.

We demonstrate the detection of dipicolinic acid, (DPA), a biomarker of bacterial spores for Bacillus anthracis, 2,4-Dinitrotoluene (DNT) and picric acid (PA) nitroaromatic hazardous chemicals on ultra-sensitive, reusable femtosecond laser textured Au nanostructures decorated with hierarchical AuNPs as a SERS substrate. The AuNPs were achieved by ablating an Au sheet using two different laser scan speeds (1 and 0.1 mm/s) in linear and crossed patterns.

Seminoma with focal gonadoblastoma in anatomically normal male: A rare case report.

Mosquitoes belonging to Aedes genus, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus transmit many globally important arboviruses including Dengue (DENV) and Chikungunya (CHIKV). Vector control with the use of insecticide remains the suitable method of choice to stop the transmission of these diseases. However, vector control throughout the world is failing to achieve its target results because of the worldwide development of insecticide resistance in mosquitoes.

Comparing the Effects of Yoga & Oral Calcium Administration in Alleviating Symptoms of Premenstrual Syndrome in Medical Undergraduates.

Medical undergraduates are heavily burdened by their curriculum. The females, in addition, suffer from vivid affective or somatic premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms such as bloating, mastalgia, insomnia, fatigue, mood swings, irritability, and depression. The present study was proposed to attenuate the symptoms of PMS by simple lifestyle measures like yoga and/or oral calcium.

Anterior neck lipoma with anterior mediastinal extention - a rare case report.

Lipomas are the most common benign mesenchymal tumour. Thirteen percent of lipomas are seen in head and neck region. Anterior neck lipoma is a rare one.

Optic neuritis associated with chikungunya virus infection in South India.

Objective: To define optic neuritis associated with chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection in a clinical setting.

Methods: This observational case series includes 14 patients with clinical features of CHIKV infection and associated optic neuritis. Complete ophthalmic evaluations were performed, as well as other examinations, including Mantoux test, Widal test, blood profile, color vision, neuroimaging, visual fields, visual evoked potentials, VDRL test, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for CHIKV-specific immunoglobulin.

Chemical poisoning in three Telengana districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Medical records of (i) toxico-medico-legal death cases from three districts of Telengana region in the state of Andhra Pradesh, viz. Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medak, and (ii) clinical toxicology cases in suspected poisoning from hospitals in and around Hyderabad city were examined for a period of 5 calendar years. The age group at risk in both the types of cases is 15-24.

Efficacy of two different DEC regimens in the treatment of human filarial infection.

Two regimens of diethyl carbamazine (DEC) viz., 14 day and 5 day, were compared for microfilaricidal effect and side effects, in the treatment of bancroftian filariasis. The rate of successful treatment, cure rate and decrease in mf count were found to be significantly high with the 14 days regimen when assessed immediately after treatment.
