Comparison of lateral flow assay and polymerase chain reaction for diagnosis of canine distemper.

In present study, 50 nasal and conjunctival pooled swab samples from 48 dogs, one each from leopard and cat were collected, which were suspected for canine distemper from Anand and Ahmedabad districts during period of January-21 to June-21. Out of the 50 samples, 18% were positive for CD by Lateral flow assay (LFA). Using LFA, one each sample from leopard and cat samples were found negative for CD by LFA.

The present study was undertaken with an aim of characterization of rabies virus (genus of the family under the order ) by sequencing of partial nucleoprotein (N) gene of rabies virus and phylogenetic analysis to know the genotype and lineage of rabies virus present in Gujarat state of India. Twenty two isolates of Pasteurella multocida were obtained from different tissues of dead birds and animals (cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goat) suspected of fowl cholera and haemorrhagic septicaemia. The isolates were confirmed as P. multocida by various biochemical tests and PM PCR.

Characterization of 132 bp Repeats BamH1-H Region in Pathogenic Marek's Disease Virus of Poultry in Gujarat, India, Using PCR and Sequencing.

A total of 34 clinical samples and four Marek's disease virus (MDV) vaccines were tested using primer BamH1/BamH2 in layer birds of poultry. Out of 34 samples tested for detection of MDV, 32 samples produced approximately 434 bp product. All the three HVT vaccines as well as SB-1 (MDV-2) vaccine failed to produce the expected amplicons, there by proving negative for the targeted 132 bp repeats of MDV genome by the primers BamH1/BamH2.
