The newly synthesized 1,2,3-triazolyl-quinolinyl-propan-2-ol () derivatives were screened for antimicrobial activity against H37Rv, , , , and . Most of the compounds showed good to moderate antibacterial activity and all derivatives have shown excellent to good antitubercular activity with MIC 0.

Study of low-dimensional nonlinear fractional difference equations of complex order.

We study the fractional maps of complex order, , for 0 < < 1 and 0 ≤ r < 1 in one and two dimensions. In two dimensions, we study Hénon, Duffing, and Lozi maps, and in 1 d, we study logistic, tent, Gauss, circle, and Bernoulli maps. The generalization in 2 d can be done in two different ways, which are not equivalent for fractional order and lead to different bifurcation diagrams.

Mural nodules in ovarian mucinous cystic tumors are uncommon, with only 80 cases reported over the last 30 yr. The literature describes only 5 cases of carcinosarcomatous mural nodules with mucinous ovarian neoplasm. We compared and summarized the literature related to mural nodules in mucinous ovarian tumors to elaborate on the clinical and histomorphologic features.

Cytomorphologic analysis of dyshormonogenetic goiter.

Dyshormonogenetic goiter is a rare cause for congenital hypothyroidism because of the lack of enzymes needed for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. They are usually treated with hormonal treatment. Cytomorphological features can lead to misdiagnosis of malignancy.

Sensitivity and Specificity of High-Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) of Temporal Bone in Diagnosing Cholesteatoma and Its Correlation with Intraoperative Findings.

High resolution computed tomography (HRCT) of temporal bone helps in understanding the complex anatomy of temporal bone and in identifying disease in temporal bone. However, its role in diagnosing cholesteatoma and analyzing its extent and complications is not established unequivocally. Present study was undertaken to check sensitivity and specificity of HRCT in diagnosing cholesteatoma and assessing its extent and in identifying ossicular destruction and other complications.

Minor salivary gland transplantation for severe dry eye disease due to cicatrising conjunctivitis: multicentre long-term outcomes of a modified technique.

Aim: To report the clinical outcomes of autologous minor salivary gland transplantation (MSGT) for the treatment of severe dry eye disease caused by cicatrising conjunctivitis.

Methods: This was a retrospective case series of patients undergoing MSGT at four different centres from 2016 to 2018. The technical modifications included en bloc harvesting of a 20 mm×15 mm mucosa-gland-muscle complex and fixation of the glands to the superior bulbar surface anchored to the superior rectus muscle.

D-π-A chromophore derived coumarins are studied using "DFT and TD-DFT" to compute vertical excitation as well as NLO properties using "global hybrid" (GH) functionals B3LYP and BHandHLYP and "range separated hybrid" (RSH) functionals CAM B3LY', wB97, wB97X, and wB97XD with basis set 6-311++G(d,p) and "correlation consistence polarized valence double and triple zeta" cc-pVDZ and cc-pVTZ respectively in the gas phase and two solvents, N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) and ethyl acetate (EA). The trends in absorption and emission values calculated by TD-DFT using all the above mentioned functional and basis sets were studied and it was observed that the trends seen in the computed parameters using B3LYP, BHandHLYP and CAM B3LYP are in good agreement with the trends in experimental values. DFT calculations were performed to determine "static dipole moment" (μ), "linear polarizability" (α), "first order hyperpolarizability" (β), "second order hyperpolarizability" (γ).

Significant Discovery of Tetrahydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-2-carboxamide Analogs as Potent P2Y12 Receptor Antagonists.

A series of analogs containing tetrahydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-2-carboxamide as a building block with numerous alicyclic and aromatic amines were synthesized. All analogs were characterized by spectral analysis and evaluated for their in vitro antiplatelet activity. 4-Fluorophenyl amide derivatives (compounds 8-11) have been found to be most active in the series with respect to prasugrel and aspirin, a third generation antiplatelet agents (P2Y12 receptor antagonists).

LVP keratoprosthesis: anatomical and functional outcomes in bilateral end-stage corneal blindness.

Purpose: To describe the anatomical and functional outcomes of the novel LVP keratoprosthesis (Kpro), developed as an alternative to the modified osteo-odonto keratoprosthesis (MOOKP), in eyes with end-stage corneal blindness where conventional corneal surgeries are contraindicated.

Methods: This prospective case series included 58 eyes of 56 patients (12 children and 44 adults) with severe bilateral keratopathy and completely dry, dermalised ocular surfaces who underwent unilateral LVP Kpro implantation from 2012 to 2016. In this two-stage procedure, an ocular surface labial mucous membrane grafting was performed, followed for 3 months by the implantation of the device under the engrafted mucosal flap.

Simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET) in failed cultivated limbal epithelial transplantation (CLET) for unilateral chronic ocular burns.

Aims: Cultivated limbal epithelial transplantation (CLET) fails in around 20%-30% of cases. This study aimed to report the clinical outcomes of autologous simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET) in eyes with recurrent unilateral limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) due to failure of CLET.

Methods: This was a prospective case series which included 30 eyes of 30 patients who underwent SLET between 2010 and 2016 after failure of one (n=24) or two (n=6) previous CLET procedures for chronic unilateral ocular burns.

Impulse-powered needle-free syringe for vaccine/drug injection.

A needle-free vaccine/drug injector that works by virtue of the impulse of a moving shock wave is presented in this communication. The device can deliver controlled micro-volumes of liquid vaccines into skin and soft tissue targets in human with minimal invasion. The operation of the injector was investigated by delivering a dyed liquid into human skin samples and soft tissue models.

Stability and bifurcation analysis of a generalized scalar delay differential equation.

This paper deals with the stability and bifurcation analysis of a general form of equation D(α)x(t)=g(x(t),x(t-τ)) involving the derivative of order α ∈ (0, 1] and a constant delay τ ≥ 0. The stability of equilibrium points is presented in terms of the stability regions and critical surfaces. We provide a necessary condition to exist chaos in the system also.

Type I keratoprosthesis for visual rehabilitation of patients with xeroderma pigmentosum.

A 6-year-old girl, a case of xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), presented with a visual acuity (VA) of 20/20 and 20/400 in the right and left eye, respectively. For a diagnosis of vascularised corneal scar, penetrating keratoplasty was performed in the left eye twice and ultimately graft failed following multiple episodes of rejection. Type I keratoprosthesis was performed in the left eye.

Reliability of ocular ultrasonography findings for pre-surgical evaluation in various vitreo-retinal disorders.

Objective: To find the reliability of ocular ultrasonography (USG) for pre-surgical evaluation in various vitreo-retinal conditions.

Method: In a retrospective study, a chart review of patients who underwent preoperative USG for various vitreoretinal conditions was done. We correlated findings of preoperative USG with intraoperative findings.

Presumed allograft stromal rejection after deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty in a boy presenting with interface fluid syndrome.

Selective anterior lamellar corneal replacement procedures have resulted in fewer allograft rejections compared with penetrating keratoplasty. Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty offers several advantages over conventional penetrating keratoplasty, significantly reducing the lifetime endothelial rejection. We report the case of a child with a presumed immune-mediated stromal rejection after deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty who presented with interface fluid, confirmed by optical coherence tomography, that subsequently resolved after prompt topical steroid treatment.

Outcome of surgery in post-cytomegalovirus retinal detachment: experience before and in the era of highly active anti-retroviral therapy in Indian eyes.

Purpose: To evaluate the outcome of surgery for cytomegalovirus associated retinal detachment (CMVRD) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients in pre-highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and HAART era in Indian eyes.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective, we reviewed medical records of all consecutive HIV patients, who underwent surgical repair for CMVRD from July 1998 to June 2011. We divided patients into two groups, i.

23-gauge vitrectomy with intraocular foreign body removal via the limbus: an alternative approach for select cases.

Purpose: To study the outcome of removal of retained intraocular foreign bodies (RIOFBs) via limbus using 23-gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV).

Materials And Methods: In this prospective, non-comparative interventional case series, fourteen eyes of 14 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were enrolled. They underwent 23-gauge TSV for management of posterior segment RIOFB and reviewed at 1 day, 7 days, 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months.

Growth of corneal epithelial cells over in situ therapeutic contact lens after simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET).

An 11-year-old boy underwent simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET) from the healthy right eye to his left eye for total limbal stem cell deficiency. One month later, corneal surface epithelialised and whitish plaques overlying the transplants were seen inferiorly. Those plaques were adherent to the surface of the contact lens and underlying corneal surface had smooth elevations.

Market-grade DDT used for mosquito control and other purposes is a mixture of 4,4-DDT, 2,4-DDT and smaller amounts of 4,4-DDD, 2,4-DDD, 4,4-DDE and 4,4-DDMU. All above components (together known as DDTr) are strongly hydrophobic and hence are present in the environment predominantly in the soil/sediment phases. The persistence of DDTr and the feasibility of attenuation of DDTr concentration in soil matrix through addition of amendments is a subject of ongoing interest.

Successful autologous simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET) in previously failed paediatric limbal transplantation for ocular surface burns.

A 3-year-old child sustained severe ocular surface burns in her left eye after accidental lime injury. Despite appropriate management in the acute stage, she developed limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) in that eye. This was initially treated with autologous ex vivo cultivated limbal epithelial transplantation (CLET), which unfortunately failed after 6 months resulting in recurrence of LSCD.
