Repetitive manual labor tasks involving twisting, bending, and lifting commonly lead to lower back and knee injuries in the workplace. To identify tasks with high injury risk, we recruited N = 9 participants to perform industry-relevant, 2-handed lifts with a 11-kg weight. These included symmetrical/asymmetrical, ascending/descending lifts that varied in start-to-end heights (knee-to-waist and waist-to-shoulder).

Association of Gabapentinoids With Opioid-Related Overdose in the Inpatient Setting: A Single Center Retrospective Case-Control Study.

Recent data suggest concomitant gabapentinoid use increases opioid-related overdose (ORO) risk; however, this association has not been well studied in the hospital setting. The primary objective of this study was to compare ORO risk, indicated by naloxone administration, in patients receiving opioids plus gabapentinoids versus opioids alone. In this retrospective case-control study of adults admitted to a large community hospital from 1/1/20 to 12/31/21, all cases (defined as patients who received naloxone more than 24 hours after admission) identified were matched 1:1 to randomly selected controls (defined as patients on opioids who did not receive naloxone).

Background: Non-nutritive suck (NNS) is used to promote ororhythmic patterning and assess oral feeding readiness in preterm infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). While time domain measures of NNS are available in real time at cribside, our understanding of suck pattern generation in the frequency domain is limited. The aim of this study is to model the development of NNS in the frequency domain using Fourier and machine learning (ML) techniques in extremely preterm infants (EPIs).
