Hearing Improvement in Tympanoplasty, with and Without Canalplasty.

Primary objective of this study was to compare the role of canalplasty in tympanoplasty, with that of only tympanoplasty, in patients of chronic suppurative otitis media with narrow external auditory canal and moderate to large central perforation, in terms of hearing improvement, graft uptake, intra operative ease. This study included 60 patients with chronic mucosal otitis media with narrow external auditory canal, with moderate to large central perforation, presenting to our institution from September 2019 to August 2021. Group A consisted of 30 patients, who underwent tympanoplasty with canalplasty and Group B consisted of 30 patients, who underwent tympanoplasty without canalplasty.
