Development of a predictive tool for sacral nerve modulation implantation in the treatment of non-obstructive urinary retention and/or slow urinary stream: a study from the Neuro-Urology Committee of the French Association of Urology.

Purpose: This study aimed to seek predictive factors and develop a predictive tool for sacral nerve modulation (SNM) implantation in patients with non-obstructive urinary retention and/or slow urinary stream (NOUR/SS).

Methods: This study was designed as a retrospective study including all patients who have undergone a two-stage SNM for NOUR/SS between 2000 and 2021 in 11 academic hospitals. The primary outcome was defined as the implantation rate.

[Current role of the latissimus dorsi flap in traumatology: Analysis of the activity of a plastic surgery department in a military hospital].

Reconstructive surgery's workhorse, the latissimus dorsi flap is increasingly abandoned in favour of fasciocutaneous flaps. The purpose of this study was to analyse the methods used to perform this flap and the evolution of its indications in order to define its current place in traumatology. Forty-four cases were recorded retrospectively from January 2000 to December 2020 at HIA Percy, including 37 cases of free flaps, mainly performed for reconstruction of extensive loss of substance with bone and/or joint exposure.

[Pre-iliac tumor mass syndrome: An atypical rheumatoid nodule].

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a polymorphous chronic inflammatory disease that is common in general population and is responsible for the occurrence of subcutaneous or visceral rheumatoid nodules. Their typical clinical presentations and localizations do not generally pose any diagnostic or therapeutic problem. We report here an atypical fistulized presentation of an unusual iliac rheumatoid nodule in a 65-year-old female patient.

Modified Colson flap with subcutaneous liposuction for one-stage donor site removal: A case series.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional and cosmetic results of an innovative procedure for modified Colson flap-graft consisting of immediate defatting of the flap by a liposuction cannula.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed among patients with deep hand burns requiring a modified Colson flap between 2018 and 2021. Outcomes included functional and cosmetic assessment of the hand through a quality-of-life questionnaire, a sensitivity scale and a scar assessment scale.

NAD(P)H Quinone Oxidoreductase-1 Expression Promotes Self-Renewal and Therapeutic Resistance in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Identifying cellular drivers responsible for enhancing cancer cell resistance to therapeutics provides critical information for designing more effective drugs. Populations of slowly growing, self-renewing, chemo-resistant cells purportedly contribute to the development of therapeutic resistance in many solid tumors. In the current study, we implemented a tumor spheroid model to determine whether NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1) was requisite for self-renewal and promotion of the drug-resistant phenotype in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Single-Cell Kinetic Modeling of β-Lapachone Metabolism in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells are highly heterogeneous in their metabolism and typically experience elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels such as superoxide and hydrogen peroxide (HO) in the tumor microenvironment. Tumor cells survive under these chronic oxidative conditions by upregulating antioxidant systems. To investigate the heterogeneity of cellular responses to chemotherapeutic HO generation in tumor and healthy tissue, we leveraged single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data to perform redox systems-level simulations of quinone-cycling β-lapachone treatment as a source of NQO1-dependent rapid superoxide and hydrogen peroxide (HO) production.

Methylmetacrylate (PMMA) cranioplasty technique: Technical interest of intraoperative modeling and review of the literature.

Reconstruction of bone loss in the cranial vault may be necessary for functional or aesthetic reasons following trauma, decompression craniectomy, or craniofacial malformations. Many techniques have been described in the literature, using various materials, each with its own advantages and drawbacks. Reconstruction with polymethylmetacrylate cement has the advantage of a durable result and relative ease of use.

[Prioritization of risk situations in neuro-urology: Guidelines based on the Delphi method from Association française d'urologie (AFU), Association francophone internationale des groupes d'animation de la paraplégie (AFIGAP), Groupe de neuro-urologie de langue française (GENULF), Société française de médecine physique et de réadaptation (SOFMER) and Société interdisciplinaire francophone d'urodynamique et de pelvi-périnéologie (SIFUD-PP)].

Purpose: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a care reorganization was mandatory, and affected patients in different areas, including management of neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction. This work aims to provide validated schedule concerning the assessment and management of patients in neuro-urology.

Methods: Based on a literature review and their own expertise, a steering committee composed of urologists and physical medicine and rehabilitation practitioners generated a comprehensive risk-situation list and built a risk scale.

Eyelid Chemical Burns: A Multidisciplinary And Challenging Approach.

During second- and third-degree eyelid sulfuric acid burns, many surgeons prefer to wait until primary wound separation occurs before grafting. However, this approach may miss the chance to recover the eyelids and can cause ectropion, resulting in delayed eyeball healing with exposure keratitis. We propose that early eyelid release and grafting makes a significant difference in long-term outcomes and improves eyeball healing.

[Treatment of female recurrent or not stress urinary incontinence with intrinsic sphincter deficiency: Sub-urethral retropubic adjustable sling (Remeex)].

Introduction: Recommendations for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) due to intrinsic sphincteric deficiency (ISD) or recurrent, are complex. They accept the use of sub-urethral slings (BSU), if unsuccessful the artificial urinary sphincter. The objective was to report the results in terms of continence and morbidity of the Remeex® Adjustable BSU in the treatment of SUI by ISD recurrent or non-recurrent.

[Marjolin ulcers after cultured epidermal autograft in severely burned patients: a rare case series and literature review].

The advent of tissue engineering and the clinical applications with cultured epidermal autograft (CEA) have improved the prognosis of severely burned patients. Marjolin ulcers (MUs) are a well-known complication of burns. These malignant neoplasm transformations of burn scars are usually squamous cell carcinomas with a higher incidence of regional metastases.

[Catheters in urology: Indications and management in daily practice for the nurse].

The urology nurse cares for patients wearing many different types of urinary catheters. Her role in the management of these devices in external care, clinical units, operating room or at home is fundamental. We performed a state of the art of good practices and of the up to date knowledge regarding the indication, placement, and specific care of these devices, which are every day more numerous on the market.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The aim of this systematic review of the literature was to pool all the existing data regarding pregnancy and delivery in women with neurogenic bladder or bladder exstrophy who had undergone previous lower urinary tract reconstruction (LUTR).

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the literature from PubMed/MedLine, ClinicalTrials.gov and the Google Scholar database, from 1972 to July 2020.

Epidemiology and risk factors for ureteral stent-associated urinary tract infections in non-transplanted renal patients: a systematic review of the literature.

Purpose: Pathophysiology and risk factors for Ureteral Stent-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (USAUTI) have been poorly investigated. This situation results in highly diverse practices regarding USAUTI prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The aim of the present study was to describe the epidemiology and risk factors for USAUTI in non-transplanted patients.

[Current place of cultured epithelial autografts in the management of massive burns and future prospects: Literature review].

Cultured Epithelial Autografts (CEAs), developed at the end of the 1970s from in vitro culture amplification of keratinocytes, have led to a therapeutic revolution in the treatment of major burns. The areas of improvement of the cultures initially involved the manufacturing processes (culture media, support matrices, etc.) and then clinical applications (use of a largely expanded allogeneic or autologous dermal bed).

Early Results of Unilateral Prostatic Artery Embolization as a Focal Therapy in Patients with Prostate Cancer under Active Surveillance: Cancer Prostate Embolisation, a Pilot Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility of prostatic artery embolization in patients with low-risk prostate cancer (PC) under active surveillance (AS).

Methods: This monocentric prospective pilot study, running from June 2018 to June 2019, included 10 patients with low-risk PC under AS, median age 72 years (range, 62-77 years), with a unilateral focal lesion visible on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System v2 score ≥3/5 confirmed by multiparametric MR imaging-targeted biopsy and Gleason score 6. The patients underwent unilateral prostatic artery embolization with 300-500 μm Embospheres in the affected prostatic lobe.

Long-term outcomes of artificial urinary sphincter in female patients with spina bifida.

Aims: To report the long-term functional outcomes of artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) implantation in female patients with spinal dysraphism and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) related to intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD).

Methods: The charts of all spina bifida female patients with SUI due to ISD who underwent AUS (AMS 800) implantation between 2005 and 2019 at three academic departments of urology were retrospectively reviewed. Reoperation was defined as either revision or explantation of the AUS device.

Lower extremity war wounds are characterized by high-energy trauma occasioning loss of complex and pluritissular substances. The support pipeline put into place by the French defense health service (SSA) is designed to rapidly evacuate the injured person from the scene of injury to mainland France, following initial surgery in the framework of a sequential tactic known as "Damage Control Surgery". This strategy is aimed at stabilizing the traumatized individual and enabling his evacuation.

Unilateral versus bilateral sacral neuromodulation test in the treatment of refractory idiopathic overactive bladder: A randomized controlled pilot trial.
