Background: Temporal lobe epilepsy with isolated amygdala enlargement (TLE-AE) still lacks a definite characterization and controversies exist.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study identifying brain MRI scans with isolated AE between 2015 and 2021. We collected clinical and paraclinical data of patients with TLE-AE and evaluated the outcome.
Mycosis fungoides (MF) represent the most frequent form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). Chlormethine gel has been approved as first-line therapy in MF. The classification of early forms of MF is clinically and histologically complex even for experienced clinicians.

This was an observational monocentric study in which we enrolled a total of 235 patients in which 127 patients were affected by moderate-to-severe psoriasis and treated with anti-IL monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for at least 6 months, whereas 108 patients affected by mild psoriasis were treated with topical therapies. Afterward, we performed a dermatologic visit to all the subjects, collecting anamnestic information including risk factors for skin cancer.

Several processing technologies, including heat treatment, are usually employed during their production in order to replicate the properties of cow's milk. These processes can trigger the Maillard reaction, producing Maillard reaction products (MRPs) and amino acid cross-links, which may alter the nutritional profile and digestibility of PBMAs.

Herein, the synthesis of four novel homoleptic Cu(II) complexes with hybrid NHC-phenolate (NHC = -Heterocyclic Carbene) ligands is reported, and their use in the catalytic -methylation of amines with CO in the presence of hydrosilanes is explored. Both bidentate or tetradentate ligands can be used in the preparation of the complexes provided that the structural requirement that the two NHC and the two phenolate donors in the metal coordination sphere are mutually in is fulfilled.

One of the possible alternatives to consider before the quad zygoma is the extra-long nasal/trans-nasal implant placement. This retrospective multicentric study shows the predictability of nasal/transnasal implant placement in patients affected by severe anterior maxilla atrophy, with residual anatomical features that indicate this surgery.

Though, considering the limited options for venous access in children if compared to adults, such clinical choice has a great critical relevance and should preferably be based on the best available evidence. Though some algorithms have been published over the last 5 years, none of them seems fully satisfactory and useful in clinical practice.

Objective: We explored perceptions and experiences with the pretransplant process across BC to determine where process improvements can be made to enhance access to transplantation.
Design: Anonymous surveys were sent online and via post to health care providers (including nephrologists, registered nurses, and coordinators) and patients across BC.
Introduction: We investigated the implications of implementing race-free Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) 2021 equation among real-world patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) from British Columbia (BC), Canada.
Methods: This study included nondialysis-dependent patients with CKD aged ≥19 years who were registered in the Patient Records and Outcome Management Information System (PROMIS) as of March 31, 2016 (index date) with ≥1 serum creatinine measurement within 1 year before the index date. Patients with a history of kidney transplantation before the index date were excluded.
Background: Phase synchronization over long distances underlies inter-areal communication and importantly, modulates the flow of information processing to adjust to cognitive demands.
Objective: This study investigates the impact of single-session, cross-frequency (Alpha-Gamma) bifocal transcranial alternating current stimulation (cf-tACS) to the cortical visual motion network on inter-areal coupling between the primary visual cortex (V1) and the medio-temporal area (MT) and on motion direction discrimination.
Methods: Based on the well-established phase-amplitude coupling (PAC) mechanism driving information processing in the visual system, we designed a novel directionally tuned cf-tACS protocol.
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a neutrophilic dermatosis that is challenging to diagnose and treat. Clinicians frequently use fast-acting corticosteroids, which are subsequently combined with slower-acting immunosuppressants to progressively taper the corticosteroid dosage. Current research is focused on the use of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) directed against target molecules involved in the pathogenesis of PG.

We described the VA creation and utilization pattern under existing estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)-based referral, and investigated the utility of KFRE score as an adjunct variable in VA planning.
Methods: Patients with CKD aged ≥18 years with eGFR <20 mL/min/1.
Formation of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) is increasingly studied by the use of fluorescence spectroscopy, and most often, by measuring single excitation/emission pairs or use of unresolved spectra. However, due to the matrix complexity and potential co-formation of fluorescent oxidation products on tryptophan and tyrosine residues, this practice will often introduce errors in both identification and quantification. The present study investigates the combination of fluorescence excitation emission matrix (EEM) spectroscopy and parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) to resolve the EEMs into its underlying fluorescent signals, allowing for better identification and quantification of MRPs.

A significant number of ACLF patients have not clear precipitating factors. The aim of the study was to investigate the role of alterations in porto-hepatic hemodynamics, especially non-forward portal flow (NFPF), in ACLF and liver-related mortality.

We believe inconsistency in the findings may arise, among others, from the electroencephalography (EEG) processing for brain-state determination. Here, we provide further insights in the effects of the brain-state on cortical and corticospinal excitability and quantify the impact of different EEG processing.

Objectives: To determine strengths, weaknesses, quality-of-care delivery, and key considerations associated with VC usage to inform optimal way(s) of integrating virtual and traditional methods of care delivery in multidisciplinary kidney clinics.
Design: Qualitative evaluation.
