Background: In order to develop contemporary telehealth curricula for entry-to-practice physiotherapy programs that develop the capabilities required to practice telehealth, it is important to evaluate the delivery of telehealth practices within the physiotherapy profession.

Objective: To assess the current literature to (i) determine what types of assessments and interventions have been delivered via synchronous forms of telehealth (videoconferencing and telephone) by physiotherapists (ii) determine which platforms were used for service delivery and which practice areas have delivered synchronous telehealth physiotherapy assessments and interventions.

Design: Scoping review adhering to Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines.

The detection of selective retinal ganglion cell damage in glaucoma has been a long sought-after goal, not just for the development of clinical tests for the early detection of glaucoma but for the elucidation of potential mechanisms underlying retinal ganglion cell loss. Early reports of the selective vulnerability of larger retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in human studies did not translate simply to the loss of a particular class of RGC but more likely reflected shrinkage and degeneration across all RGC classes. Subsequent studies of nonhuman primate (NHP) models of glaucoma indicated some selectivity with great damage to the magnocellular vs parvocellular pathways.

This paper sets out to explore the requirements needed to recommend a useable and reliable biomonitoring system for occupational exposure to copper and its inorganic compounds. Whilst workplace environmental monitoring of copper is used to measure ambient air concentrations for comparison against occupational exposure limits, biological monitoring could provide complementary information about the internal dose of workers, taking into account intra-individual variability and exposure from all routes. For biomonitoring to be of reliable use for copper, a biomarker and the analytical ability to measure it with sufficient sensitivity must be identified and this is discussed in a range of matrices.

Aim: The English Bowel Cancer Screening Programme detects colorectal cancers and premalignant polyps in a faecal occult blood test-positive population. The aim of this work is to describe the detection rates and characteristics of adenomas within the programme, identify predictive factors influencing the presence or absence of carcinoma within adenomas and identify the factors predicting the presence of advanced colonic neoplasia in different colon segments.

Method: The Bowel Cancer Screening System was retrospectively searched for polyps detected during colonoscopies between June 2006 and June 2012, at which time a guaiac test was being used.

Gene gun DiOlistic labelling enables the detailed visualization of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) dendritic structure. Since the level of labelling is independent of cellular health, it is useful for the characterization of neuronal structure in degenerating neurons where expressed reporters may be inadequate. The COVID-19 pandemic has rejuvenated interest in the possibility of using telemedicine as an approach to providing critical care services to patients in remote areas. Conceptual and governance considerations remain unaddressed. We summarise the first steps in a recent collaborative effort between key organisations in Australia, India, New Zealand, and the UK, and call for an international consensus on standards with due considerations to governance and regulation of this emerging clinical practice.

Aging and metabolic syndrome are associated with neurodegenerative pathologies including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and there is growing interest in the prophylactic potential of probiotic bacteria in this area. In this study, we assessed the neuroprotective potential of the Lab4P probiotic consortium in both age and metabolically challenged 3xTg-AD mice and in human SH-SY5Y cell culture models of neurodegeneration. In mice, supplementation prevented disease-associated deteriorations in novel object recognition, hippocampal neurone spine density (particularly thin spines) and mRNA expression in hippocampal tissue implying an anti-inflammatory impact of the probiotic, more notably in the metabolically challenged setting.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in adults (MIS-A), is a rare post-infectious complication of COVID-19. We describe an illustrative case of MIS-A in an otherwise well, SARS-CoV-2 unvaccinated 25-year-old Tongan man who presented to hospital 30 days after mild COVID-19 illness. We highlight the progression of his illness, including treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for cardiogenic shock, and detail temporal evolution of clinical, laboratory and radiographic features of his illness.

Neuronal dendritic and synaptic pruning are early features of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. In addition to brain pathology, amyloid plaque deposition, microglial activation, and cell loss occur in the retinas of human patients and animal models of Alzheimer's disease. Retinal ganglion cells, the output neurons of the retina, are vulnerable to damage in neurodegenerative diseases and are a potential opportunity for non-invasive clinical diagnosis and monitoring of Alzheimer's progression.
