Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine how attitudes toward the return of genomic research results vary internationally.

Methods: We analyzed the "Your DNA, Your Say" online survey of public perspectives on genomic data sharing including responses from 36,268 individuals across 22 low-, middle-, and high-income countries, and these were gathered in 15 languages. We analyzed how participants responded when asked whether return of results (RoR) would motivate their decision to donate DNA or health data.

Analyzing genomic data across populations is central to understanding the role of genetic factors in health and disease. Successful data sharing relies on public support, which requires attention to whether people around the world are willing to donate their data that are then subsequently shared with others for research. However, studies of such public perceptions are geographically limited and do not enable comparison.

This paper examines how acceptance of data sharing pertains to the perceived similarities and differences between DNA and other forms of personal data. It explores the perceptions of representative publics from the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia (n = 8967) towards the donation of DNA and health data.

A Posterior Approach to Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of Displaced Posterior Cruciate Ligament Tibial Osseous Avulsions.

Background: The true prevalence of displaced tibial-sided avulsion injuries of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL; Video 1) is unknown, and the majority of data regarding management has been published in areas other than the Western world, such as China and India (perhaps due to the higher prevalence of two-wheeler motorcycle accidents in these areas). Despite the rarity of data, a better understanding of the approach, fixation techniques, and outcomes is necessary to provide quality patient care. These injuries generally require surgical intervention as nonoperative management leads to complications-specifically, knee arthrofibrosis.

'Your DNA, Your Say': global survey gathering attitudes toward genomics: design, delivery and methods.

Our international study, 'Your DNA, Your Say', uses film and an online cross-sectional survey to gather public attitudes toward the donation, access and sharing of DNA information. We describe the methodological approach used to create an engaging and bespoke survey, suitable for translation into many different languages. We address some of the particular challenges in designing a survey on the subject of genomics.

Incidence of spinal epidural lipomatosis in patients with spinal stenosis.

Inroduction: Spinal Epidural Lipomatosis (SEL) is believed to be a rare disorder. The incidence and prevalence of clinically symptomatic SEL in patients with spinal stenosis has never been reported in the literature. Our study aims to determine the prevalence, incidence, and associated risk factors of SEL in patients with the diagnosis of spinal stenosis.

Purpose: Tumours frequently have defects in multiple oncogenic pathways, e.g. MAPK and PI3K signalling pathways, and combinations of targeted therapies may be required for optimal activity.

Adjuvant Weekly Girentuximab Following Nephrectomy for High-Risk Renal Cell Carcinoma: The ARISER Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Girentuximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that binds carbonic anhydrase IX, a cell surface glycoprotein ubiquitously expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Its safety and activity in phase 2 studies prompted investigation into its use as adjuvant monotherapy in participants with high-risk ccRCC.

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of adjuvant girentuximab on disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with localized completely resected high-risk ccRCC.

Body Mass Index and Survival in a Prospective Randomized Trial of Localized High-Risk Renal Cell Carcinoma.

Background: The relationship between adiposity and renal cell carcinoma is poorly understood. Prior studies have suggested body mass index (BMI) may be associated with indolent disease.

Methods: We reviewed the clinicopathologic records of 845 patients across 14 countries who were enrolled in a prospective, placebo-controlled study of adjuvant girentuximab treatment for high-risk renal cell carcinoma.

Trust and British Gas partner in EPC scheme.

In late August last year the St George's Healthcare NHS Trust in south-west London signed what the Trust's Estates and Facilities team described as 'a historic partnership' with British Gas for a £12 m Energy Performance Contract energy reduction scheme--via which the energy company has guaranteed to deliver £1.1 m in annual savings over the next 15 years. The agreement will see British Gas replace four 35-year-old gas-powered steam boilers and an ageing CHP plant in the boiler house at the Trust's main acute facility, the StGeorge's Hospital in Tooting, and upgrade some of the associated infrastructure.

Should Cerebral Near-infrared Spectroscopy be Standard of Care in Adult Cardiac Surgery?

Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is non-invasive, easy to use, and offers real-time monitoring of the oxygen content of cerebral tissue. An effective and user-friendly method of cerebral monitoring stands to offer a significant advance in patient care during adult cardiac surgery, particularly for surgery in which the continuity of cerebral vessels may be compromised. While the current evidence does not definitively show improvement in neurological outcomes, it can be argued that the overall risk to benefit ratio falls on the side of NIRS.

Monoclonal antibody G250 targeting CA Ⅸ: Binding specificity, internalization and therapeutic effects in a non-renal cancer model.

G250 (Girentuximab) is a chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody (MAb) currently being evaluated as an immunotherapy for kidney cancer. It targets carbonic anhydrase protein (CA Ⅸ), a transmembrane carbonic anhydrase (CA) isoform, which is regulated by VHL/HIF pathway and hence expressed in the majority of renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) as well as in hypoxic non‑RCC tumours. CA Ⅸ functions in pH regulation and cell migration/invasion, and supports tumour cell survival in hypoxia and/or acidosis.

Long-term survival after isolated tricuspid valve replacement.

Background: Isolated replacement of the tricuspid valve is rare, and the decision to operate is difficult. This study reviews the in-hospital mortality and long-term survival after tricuspid valve replacement in the absence of concomitant left sided valve surgery. It identifies predictors of poor outcome.

Accounting for the impact of conservation on human well-being.

Conservationists are increasingly engaging with the concept of human well-being to improve the design and evaluation of their interventions. Since the convening of the influential Sarkozy Commission in 2009, development researchers have been refining conceptualizations and frameworks to understand and measure human well-being and are starting to converge on a common understanding of how best to do this. In conservation, the term human well-being is in widespread use, but there is a need for guidance on operationalizing it to measure the impacts of conservation interventions on people.
