Background: The impact of lipid parameters on hearing loss has been extensively studied in the literature. However, there is currently no study investigating the prognostic factor of plasma atherogenic index in patients with sudden hearing loss. - The study aims to compare the success rates and hearing outcomes between two types of myringoplasty: cartilage island graft (CIG) and temporal muscle fascia graft (TFG).
- A retrospective analysis of 116 patients showed a higher graft success rate for CIG at 93.8% compared to TFG at 80.2%, although both types resulted in similar postoperative hearing outcomes.
- The findings suggest that CIG might be the better option for myringoplasty due to its higher graft endurance.
