Added prognostic value of sentinel lymph node mapping in endometrial cancer to molecular subgroups.

Objective: Treatment approaches for endometrial cancer became more personalized in the last decade, mainly due to two key advancements - sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping and molecular classification. However, their prognostic interaction remains relatively unexplored.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients with endometrial cancer, who underwent surgical treatment including SLN mapping at the Bern University Hospital, Switzerland.

Gestational diabetes is associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy: A case-control study.

Aim: Individuals with SARS-CoV-2 infection and (pre-existing) diabetes, including pregnant women, present with more severe morbidity, as compared to non-diabetic subjects. To date, evidence is limited concerning the role of gestational diabetes (GDM) in severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy, or vice versa. The aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence of GDM in a SARS-CoV-2 infected pregnant population and evaluate risk factors for and from severe infection in these patients.

Evaluation of scleral and corneal thickness in keratoconus patients.

Purpose: To determine whether the scleral stroma is affected as much as the corneal stroma in keratoconus.

Setting: University Eye Clinic, Bern, Switzerland.

Design: Comparative case-control study.

Senile scleral plaques imaged with enhanced depth optical coherence tomography.

Purpose: Senile scleral plaques (SSP) are sharply demarcated greyish areas located just anterior to the insertions of the horizontal rectus muscles and thus are frequently encountered during transscleral intravitreal injections. The aim of this study was to characterize SSP using enhanced depth imaging spectral domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a cohort of patients attending intravitreal injection clinics.

Methods: Prospective cross-sectional study of 380 patients attending the clinic for intravitreal injections at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Bern University Hospital.
