While Body Mass Index (BMI) has been used largely in health studies as a measure of obesity, it is largely unable to differentiate between body fat and lean body mass, hence other anthropometric measures can be used to assess body fat.
Objective: To determine the association of anthropometric indicators with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in obese adults.
Objectives: To determine the efficacy of zinc sulfate supplementation in managing dysmenorrhoea.
Methods: In total, 103 high school students were randomised into an experimental arm (52 students) and a control arm (51 students) and received 40-mg zinc sulfate or placebo, respectively, over three cycles. Primary outcome measures were the mean Visual Analogue Scale score, which measured pain over three cycles, and the frequency of nausea and vomiting.
Objectives: To compare Premaquick biomarkers (combined insulin-like growth-factor binding protein 1 and interleukin-6) and cervical length measurement via transvaginal ultrasound for pre-induction cervical evaluation at term among pregnant women.
Methods: A randomized clinical trial of consenting pregnant women at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Nigeria. The women were randomized equally into Premaquick group ( = 36) and transvaginal ultrasound group ( = 36).

This is a comparative study on the adequacy of cervical smears obtained using the Papcone® sampling device or wooden Ayre's spatula conducted from two tertiary health facilities -- Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Awka, in Anambra State, Nigeria. Slides from smears obtained using both devices were read by a cytopathologist blinded for the study. The primary outcome was the proportion of smears with an adequate endocervical component.

Methods: A multicenter prospective study was conducted among women with features suggestive of PROM between 24 and 42 gestational weeks (GW). PROM was confirmed post-delivery based on presence of any two of these criteria: delivery within 48 h to 7 days, chorioamnionitis, membranes overtly ruptured at delivery, and adverse perinatal outcomes strongly correlated with prolonged PROM.

Purpose: To determine values of combinations of interleukin-6 (IL-6)/cervical native insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1)/total IGFBP-1 (Premaquick©) in predicting spontaneous deliveries and spontaneous exclusive preterm deliveries in women with threatened preterm labor.
Methods: Women with singleton pregnancies between gestation age (GA) of 24 weeks and 36 weeks and 6 days with preterm labor were recruited during a prospective multicenter study. Premaquick© was positive when at least two of three biomarkers were positive.

Confirmation of PROM was done after delivery based on the presence of any two of these criteria: delivery within 48 h to 7 days, evidence of chorioamnionitis, membranes explicitly ruptured at delivery and adverse perinatal outcomes strongly correlated with prolonged PROM.
Objective: To determine the seroreactivity of pregnant women to syphilis in order to justify the need for routine antenatal syphilis screening.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective analysis of routine antenatal venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) test results between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2012 at three specialist care hospitals in south-east Nigeria was done. A reactive VDRL result is subjected for confirmation using Treponema pallidum hemagglutination assay test.
