Deodorisation remains a beneficial aspect of the processing of edible oils and fats and is required during the first refining and after transportation, storage, and/or further processing, such as interesterification. While there is awareness among the scientific community that repeated deodorisation may negatively impact product quality, according to some technical and processing requirements, oils, fats, and their blends can still be treated with up to 3-4 cycles of deodorisation. Nonreciprocity, inequivalence in amplitudes and frequencies of spin waves propagating in opposite directions, is a key property underlying functionality in prospective magnonic devices. Here we demonstrate experimentally and theoretically a simple approach to induce frequency nonreciprocity in a magnetostatically coupled ferromagnetic bilayer structure with a nonmagnetic spacer by its geometrical asymmetry. Using Brillouin light scattering, we show the formation of two collective spin wave modes in FeGa/Cu/FeGa structure with different thicknesses of ferromagnetic layers.

The application of foamed polymers as one of the components of insulating coatings allows to solve the problems of energy saving and creation of optimal operating conditions for constructions. The systems of application of energy-efficient heat-insulating materials must consider both the particularities of the insulating materials and the functional orientation of the constructions. The implementation of the concept of seamless insulating coatings implies the achievement of thermal effect and reduction in air permeability both by means of the application of thermal insulation with low thermal conductivity and the minimization of junctions between separate elements of the insulating coating, which is achieved using elastic foamed polymers and, first of all, polyethylene foam.

We report the experimental observation of the UV-visible upconverted luminescence of bulk silicon under pulsed infrared excitation. We demonstrate that non-stationary distribution of excited carriers leads to the emission at spectral bands never to our knowledge observed before. We show that the doping type and concentration alter the shape of luminescence spectra.

Monochlorpropanediol fatty acid esters (MCPDE) and glycidyl fatty acid esters (GE) are mainly considered to be processing contaminants and their concentration can rise during high temperature refining and deodorization of edible oils. Free forms formed during digestive hydrolysis of esters such as 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), 2-MCPD and glycidol can provoke a negative effect on human health. Emulsion fat products due to the presence of the aqueous phase are more prone to oxidative damage than pure oils and fats, which requires the use of antioxidants. Based on a social request for the use of natural antioxidants in the food industry, tocopherols, their mixtures, as well as ascorbic acid are widespread. However, most natural antioxidants (vitamins, plant extracts) have lower antioxidant activity in fats than synthetic ones and require more incorporation into the product, which can negatively affect its organoleptic properties and the cost of the finished emulsion fat product.

We demonstrate that single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) membranes can be successfully utilized as nanometer-thick substrates for enhanced visualization and facilitated study of individual nanoparticles. As model objects, we transfer optically resonant 200 nm silicon nanoparticles onto pristine and ethanol-densified SWCNT membranes by the femtosecond laser printing method. We image nanoparticles by scanning electron and bright-field optical microscopy, and characterize by linear and Raman scattering spectroscopy.

For the first time the content and composition of dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans and anthocyanins in 10 samples of Chinese magnolia-vine fruits (Schizandra chinensis) collected in the Moscow Region, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krai were studied. The determination of the profile of lignans was carried out according to the our original HPLC technique with diode-array spectrophotometric and mass spectrometric detection. The validation of the methodology for linearity, accuracy and precision was carried out.
