Context: Rare earth elements (REE) are indispensable in numerous green technologies owing to their exceptional physical and chemical attributes. Separating REE is a pivotal process to meet the increasing demands of the high-tech industry. Understanding the hydrolysis of REE in aqueous environments marks the initial stride in comprehending their separation mechanisms.

Introduction: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic disease characterized by submucosal and subcutaneous edema with high morbidity and possibility of mortality. This study presents the sociodemographic characteristics of a large Brazilian family with HAE.
Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study with patients from two family branches coming from the same city and HAE diagnosis was carried out.
The Transactivating response (TAR) element DNA-binding of 43 kDa (TDP-43) is mainly implicated in the regulation of gene expression, playing multiple roles in RNA metabolism. Pathologically, it is implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and in a class of neurodegenerative diseases broadly going under the name of frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). A common hallmark of most forms of such diseases is the presence of TDP-43 insoluble inclusions in the cell cytosol.

Methods: The rate of HDV seroprevalence and HDV chronicity was assessed in 1579 hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)+ patients collected from 2005 to 2022 in Central Italy.
Results: In total, 45.
Background: We aimed at evaluating the temporal trend of drug-resistance and APOBEC editing from HIV-DNA genotypic resistance tests (GRT) in virologically suppressed individuals.
Material And Methods: Major resistance mutations (MRM), genotypic susceptibility score (GSS) for the current regimen and APOBEC-related mutations (APO-M) were evaluated. Potential changes in trends of MRM and APO-M over-time were assessed and predictors of MRM detection or sub-optimal GSS (GSS<2) at HIV-DNA-GRT were estimated through logistic regression analyses.
Specific HBsAg mutations are known to hamper HBsAg recognition by neutralizing antibodies thus challenging HBV-vaccination efficacy. Nevertheless, information on their impact and spreading over time is limited. Here, we characterize the circulation of vaccine-escape mutations from 2005 to 2019 and their correlation with virological parameters in a large cohort of patients infected with HBV genotype-D ( = 947), dominant in Europe.

Methods: Major resistance mutations (MRM) and genotypic susceptibility score (GSS) of dolutegravir companion drugs were evaluated on plasma genotypic resistance test (GRT) performed at dolutegravir failure. Logistic regression was used to evaluate factors associated to the risk of integrase strand-transfer inhibitors (INSTI)-resistance at dolutegravir failure.
During the past two years we have witness a tremendous worldwide health crisis imposed by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This situation led to the urgent development and implementation of vaccines in an attempt to decrease not only the SARS-CoV-2 transmissibility but also the severe forms of COVID-19. Although these vaccines were approved based on an adequate benefit-risk ratio, at the moment of their implementation in 2021 we did not have sub-studies in special populations; patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) among them.

Despite the promising functional profile, its progress as a novel drug candidate has failed so far, due to its scarce solubility and poor stability in aqueous media, such as biological fluids. Therefore, overcoming these limits is an intriguing challenge for the scientific community.

Both, genetic and non-genetic factors, contribute to these disparities. To overcome these health disparities and reduce poor outcomes among disadvantaged SLE populations, interventions on non-genetic amendable factors, especially on social health determinants, are necessary.

These changes have also been reflected in the epidemiological patterns of common respiratory viruses. For this reason, early discrimination of respiratory viruses is important as new variants emerge.

Methods: Survival analysis was used to assess probability of virological rebound (VR). Cumulative major resistance mutations (MRM) and cumulative genotypic susceptibility score (cGSS) were evaluated before the switch.
Background/objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in patients with rheumatic and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) in Argentina: the SAR-CoVAC registry.
Methods: SAR-CoVAC is a national, multicenter, and observational registry. Adult patients with rheumatic or IMIDs vaccinated for SARS-CoV-2 were consecutively included between June 1 and September 17, 2021.
Background/objective: Data on IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) come almost exclusively from cohorts from Asia, Europe, and North America. We conducted this study to describe the clinical presentation, phenotype distribution, and association with sex, ethnicity, and serological markers in a large cohort of Latin American patients with IgG4-RD.
Methods: We performed a multicenter medical records review study including 184 Latin American IgG4-RD patients.
This study aimed at updating previous data on HIV-1 integrase variability, by using effective bioinformatics methods combining different statistical instruments from simple entropy and mutation rate to more specific approaches such as Hellinger distance. A total of 2133 HIV-1 integrase sequences were analyzed in: i) 1460 samples from drug-naïve [DN] individuals; ii) 386 samples from drug-experienced but INI-naïve [IN] individuals; iii) 287 samples from INI-experienced [IE] individuals. Within the three groups, 76 amino acid positions were highly conserved (≤0.

While the exact causes of ALS are still unclear, the discovery that familial cases of ALS are related to mutations in the Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1), a key antioxidant enzyme protecting cells from the deleterious effects of superoxide radicals, suggested that alterations in SOD1 functionality and/or aberrant SOD1 aggregation strongly contribute to ALS pathogenesis. A new scenario was opened in which, thanks to the generation of SOD1 related models, different mechanisms crucial for ALS progression were identified.

It has been shown that chalcopyrite surfaces are the source of sulfur that is oxidized to form polysulfides and elemental sulfur. Electronic structure calculations were performed for HS ( = 0, 1, 2 and = 1.

Such contacts are often compromised in the early stages of many neurodegenerative disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). TDP-43, a nuclear protein mainly involved in RNA metabolism, has been repeatedly associated with ALS pathogenesis and other neurodegenerative diseases.
