Midbrain dopamine neurons are well-known to shape central nervous system function, yet there is growing evidence for their influence on the peripheral immune systems. Here we demonstrate that midbrain dopamine neurons form a circuit to the spleen via a multisynaptic pathway from the dorsal vagal complex (DVC) through the celiac ganglion. Midbrain dopamine neurons modulate the activity of D1-like and D2-like dopamine receptor-expressing DVC neurons.

Background: In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) the efficacy of chemo-immunotherapy is affected by the high expression of drug efflux transporters as ABCC1 and by the low expression of ABCA1, mediating the isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP)-dependent anti-tumor activation of Vγ9Vδ2 T-lymphocytes. In endothelial cells ABCA1 is a predicted target of the transcription factor EB (TFEB), but no data exists on the correlation between TFEB and ABC transporters involved in the chemo-immuno-resistance in NSCLC.

Semen was collected from 4 fertile bulls, using an artificial vagina, once weekly for 6 consecutive weeks. Differentiating between auditory signals of various emotional significance plays a crucial role in an individual's ability to thrive and excel in social interactions and in survival. Multiple approaches, including anatomical studies, electrophysiological investigations, imaging techniques, optogenetics and chemogenetics, have confirmed that the auditory cortex (AC) impacts fear-related behaviours driven by auditory stimuli by conveying auditory information to the lateral amygdala (LA) through long-range excitatory glutamatergic and GABAergic connections. Great attention has been given in the last years to the protein source of dog food, and commercial limited-ingredient diets with a single protein are available also for late pregnancy. This work compared the effect of a fish-based limited ingredient diet (LID), and of a standard mixed-protein diet (Mixed), fed to the bitches from the last three weeks of pregnancy and to the puppies at weaning, on birth weight, growth and health of the puppies. From a breeder's records, the weight of 22 Lagotto Romagnolo (LR) and 10 Appenzeller Cattle Dog (ACD) bitches on the day of mating, and of their 199 puppies, were extracted.
