Rock slope failures pose significant challenges in geotechnical engineering due to the intricate nature of rock masses, discontinuities, and various destabilizing factors during and after excavation. In mining industries, such as national cement factories, multi-benched excavation systems are commonly used for quarrying. However, cut slopes are often designed with steep angles to maximize economic benefits, inadvertently neglecting critical slope stability issues.

While previous research has highlighted self-reported obsessiveness and impulsiveness in work addiction, this study sought to go beyond self-report measures by employing also neuropsychological reaction time tasks to assess executive functions. A total of 101 participants were categorized into two groups based on their Work Addiction Risk Test scores: a high-risk group (HWA; n = 39) and a low-risk group (LWA; n = 62) for work addiction.

In this study, oropharyngeal swab samples were collected in Hungary and Romania from 99 columbiform birds, including 76 feral pigeons (: 42 kept for racing, 32 with urban and two with rural habitat), four common wood pigeons (), 16 ring doves () and three Eurasian collared doves (). These samples were analyzed for the presence of using molecular methods.

South Sudan and the entire African region were certified WPV free on August 25, 2020. South Sudan has maintained its WPV free status since 2010, and this paper reviewed the country's progress, outlined lessons learned, and describes the remaining challenges in polio eradication.

Nonetheless, it was one of the last four countries in the WHO African region to be accepted as a polio-free country in June 2020. In line with this, to accelerate the polio-free documentation process, the country has piloted Auto Visual AFP Detection and Reporting (AVADAR) in three counties.

Introduction: the study was conducted to assess the readiness and capacity of the core components of infection prevention and control and water, sanitation and hygiene in health facilities to effectively contain potential outbreaks of Ebola virus and other diseases in South Sudan.
Methods: it is a descriptive cross-sectional study which was conducted in health facilities in six high-risk States of the country from September 2020 to December 2021. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with Microsoft Excel software.
Introduction: the emergence and re-emergence of zoonotic diseases have threatened both human and animal health globally since their identification in the 20th century. Rift Valley fever (RVF) virus is a recurrent zoonotic disease in South Sudan, with the earliest RVF cases confirmed in 2007 in Kapoeta North County, Eastern Equatoria state.
Methods: we analyzed national RVF outbreak data to describe the epidemiological pattern of the RVF outbreak in Yirol East county in Lakes State.
Introduction: South Sudan is affected by a high burden of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The country is very vulnerable to NTDs due to its favourable tropical climate and multiple risk factors. However, the distribution of the diseases and the populations at risk for the various NTDs is unknown.

The main objective is to measure a country´s status in building the necessary capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats and establish a baseline measurement of capacities and capabilities. The Republic of South Sudan conducted the Joint External Evaluation from 16-20 October 2017, where its capacities were assessed to public health threats per the International Health Regulation (2005).

Here, we describe the experiences of emergency mobile medical teams (eMMT) assembled by the World Health Organization (WHO) South Sudan to respond to public health emergencies. Interventions: the eMMTs, multidisciplinary teams based at national, state and county levels, are rapidly deployed to conduct rapid assessments, outbreak investigations, and initiate public health response during acute emergencies.

In addition, the country reported an imported case of WPV in 2004-2005 and 2008-2009. The WPV circulation in the state was interrupted in 2009 and the last case was reported in Ayod county.

The aminopeptidase N receptor (APN/CD13) is an excellent marker of angiogenesis since it is overexpressed in angiogenic blood vessels and in tumor cells. Asparagine-glycine-arginine (NGR) peptide analogs bind selectively to the APN/CD13 recepto, therefore, they are important vector molecules in the development of a PET radiotracer which is capable of detecting APN-rich tumors.

At the time, risk of cross-border spread into South Sudan was very high. Thus, the South Sudan Ministry of Health scaled up Ebola preparedness activities in August 2018, including implementation of a 24-h, toll-free Ebola virus disease (EVD) hotline.

This paper aims to evaluate the potential of red mud and other sludge waste types as a soil substitute by monitoring plant development. Pot experiments were carried out testing two types of mixtures: dredging sludge from Lake Balaton mixed with garden soil and the sewage sludge and soil blend.

One of these interventions was a surveillance system which included an Ebola alert management system. This study analyzed the performance of this system.

This checklist is currently being applied for the first time on a large and systematic scale to prepare for the cross border importation of the ongoing EVD outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo hence the need to document the lessons learnt from this experience. This is more pertinent considering the complex humanitarian context and weak health system under which some of the countries such as the Republic of South Sudan are implementing their EVD preparedness interventions.

The median survival of patients with brain metastases is 1 month without treatment. Novel immunotherapeutic strategies, such as those targeting the programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1)/programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) axis, are promising in patients with advanced systemic disease but are often preferentially administered to patients with tumors showing PD-L1 positivity.

The relationship between volume status and clinically enlarged (arteriovenous) fistula (CEF) formation in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients is not well understood. We assessed the pre-dialysis bioimpedance spectroscopy-measured percentage of overhydration (OH%) in 13 prevalent dialysis patients with CEF development and negative angiography and compared the results with those of 52 control dialysis patients (CONTR).

Considering their long-term use in maintenance treatment, any potential mutagenic effect of PARP inhibitor treatment could accelerate the development of resistance or harm non-malignant somatic cells.
Methods: We tested the mutagenicity of long-term treatment with the PARP inhibitor niraparib using whole-genome sequencing of cultured cell clones and whole-exome sequencing of patient-derived breast cancer xenografts.
Introduction And Aim: In the case of primary school children in Budapest (n = 165), data on their social status and their previous knowledge on hand hygiene were elicited with the help of pre-knowledge questionnaires issued by students of higher education. The aim of the research was introducing a novel pedagogical procedure - application and optimization of peer education in the development of proper hand hygiene among primary school students.
Method: The knowledge-based survey was conducted after four (n = 85) and eight hours of teaching (n = 36).
Purpose: Interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) is both a measure of dietary compliance and a well-established predictor of future adverse outcomes in dialysis patients. The impact of environmental conditions on IDWG in end-stage renal disease is little studied to date.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed IDWG for 100 consenting chronic end-stage renal disease patients undergoing thrice weekly in-center hemodiafiltration under three different climatic conditions in a Central European city: Weekend_1 was humid (93 %) and warm (24 °C); Weekend_2 was dry (38 %) and hot (33 °C); and Weekend_3 was dry (30 %) and warm (24 °C).

We sought to investigate the influence of hemodialysis (HD), increased LV mass and FGF-23 on LV mechanics using three-dimensional (3D) speckle tracking echocardiography. Forty-four ESRD patients on maintenance HD were examined just before and immediately after HD, and were compared to 44 normal controls (NC).
