Context: Patients with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) may have pain refractory to conventional pain management strategies. Neuromodulation could provide relief of pain.

Prevalence and psychosocial impact of lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) frequently report lower urinary tract symptoms at the outpatient rehabilitation clinic. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms in the Dutch male DMD population and their effect on quality of life. A postal questionnaire was sent to members of Dutch DMD patient organisations.

Percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation as neuromodulative treatment of chronic pelvic pain.

Purpose: Neuromodulative therapies have been used with moderate success in patients with chronic pelvic pain. Intermittent Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) is a new, minimally invasive treatment option, which has shown to significantly decrease accompanying pain complaints in patients with lower urinary tract dysfunction, such as urge incontinence or urgency/frequency. In our study, we evaluate the objective results of PTNS in patients with chronic pelvic pain as their main complaint.
