Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how prolonged exercise, like marathons, affects heart function, particularly focusing on "cardiac fatigue."
  • Researchers tested six athletes using various methods before and after a race to measure changes in heart performance and oxygen delivery.
  • Results showed a decline in heart function and oxygen levels post-race, suggesting that combining cardiopulmonary tests with muscle oxygen measurements could help identify cardiac fatigue in athletes.
