The management of distal extension edentulism by removable partial denture (RPD), in cases where fixed solutions cannot be considered, poses various challenges inherent in the mixed support of the prosthesis, especially when the edentulism is of a large extent. When an implant is placed to assist a removable denture, it allows ensuring a bio-functional, aesthetic, and comfortable rehabilitation. Additionally, it renders possible resolutions to problems related to conventional RPD.

Assessment of water quality in wells and springs across various districts of Taza City, Morocco.

The aim of this study is to assess groundwater pollution in the city of Taza, Morocco. This was accomplished through hydrochemical and biological investigations, focusing on analyzing the physicochemical and bacteriological parameters of groundwater. Water samples were collected from wells and sources within Taza City on a monthly basis during the spring and summer of 2023.

Sarcoidosis is a rare, chronic, granulomatous disease of unknown etiology and primarily effects the lymphatic and respiratory systems. The central nervous system (CNS) is unusually implicated in sarcoidosis patients. We describe a rare magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in a case of isolated neurosarcoidosis.

The recording of the maxillo-mandibular relationship (MMR) is an essential and unavoidable step that occurs at different stages of treatment during a prosthetic rehabilitation. Tissue duality is a major problem in metal partial dentures (MPD), especially in complete and large edentulisms, and is responsible for occlusal inaccuracies resulting in restorations that are not integrated with the patient’s manducatory system. In order to perform this step, the practitioner must choose the right material, make the appropriate support, and adopt a reliable and reproducible technique that is adapted to the clinical situation and the prosthetic step.

A clickable melphalan for monitoring DNA interstrand crosslink accumulation and detecting ICL repair defects in Fanconi anemia patient cells.

Fanconi anemia (FA) is a genetic disorder associated with developmental defects, bone marrow failure and cancer. The FA pathway is crucial for the repair of DNA interstrand crosslinks (ICLs). In this study, we have developed and characterized a new tool to investigate ICL repair: a clickable version of the crosslinking agent melphalan which we name click-melphalan.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the small intestine with lung metastasis.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) represent 1% of primary gastrointestinal cancers. These tumors most frequently metastasise to the liver and peritoneum and rarely to the lungs. We report the case of a 79-year-old woman with gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the small intestine and pulmonary metastases.

Acute pulmonary embolism mimicking COVID-19 pneumonia.

The case of 21-year-old man with an asthma history from childhood presenting severe respiratory distress associated with a right lower thoracic pain has been studied. The non-contrast Computed Tomography (CT)-chest scan showed a basal ground-glass opacity (GGO) of the right lung leading to suspicion of COVID-19 pneumonia. However, the molecular Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test and blood serology were negative while laboratory analyses revealed high levels of D-dimers (D-D).

Food poisoning risk related to the consumption of contaminated food with known foodborne pathogens or antibiotic-resistant bacteria is currently a serious threat for public health. Thus, pathogenic methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus strains are considered as one of the major cause of foodborne diseases in hospitals. The present study aims to determine the prevalence and the antibiotic resistance patterns of Staphylococcus in various types of hospital food samples, work surfaces and its carriage by food handlers.

Simulation of the Impact of Ionized Impurity Scattering on the Total Mobility in Si Nanowire Transistors.

Nanowire transistors (NWTs) are being considered as possible candidates for replacing FinFETs, especially for CMOS scaling beyond the 5-nm node, due to their better electrostatic integrity. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop reliable simulation methods to provide deeper insight into NWTs' physics and operation, and unlock the devices' technological potential. One simulation approach that delivers reliable mobility values at low-field near-equilibrium conditions is the combination of the quantum confinement effects with the semi-classical Boltzmann transport equation, solved within the relaxation time approximation adopting the Kubo⁻Greenwood (KG) formalism, as implemented in this work.

Introduction: Edentulous patients often hope for stable and retentive prostheses. In very unfavorable anatomophysiological circumstances, the implant-retained removable full denture is a simple and reliable option that considerably optimizes the prosthetic balance. We present the case of one of those patients taken in charge in our department.

Spontaneous perforation of Meckel's diverticulum: a case report and review of literature.

Hemorrhage, obstruction and inflammation are the three main categories of complications resulting from Meckel's diverticulum. Post-operative transmesosigmoid hernia causing small bowel obstruction: a case report.

Malignant eyelid tumors generate considerable functional and aesthetic complications. Squamous cell carcinoma or squamous cell epithelioma (SCE) of the eyelids represents about 9% of all peri-ocular skin tumors. It is potentially lethal by orbital invasion or metastasis and characterized by clinical polymorphism and its ability to mimic other benign lesions of the eyelids, thus requiring early diagnosis and management.

Benz[a]anthracene (BaA) is a ubiquitous polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon found in numerous aquatic ecosystems. However, ecotoxicological data in aquatic organisms are scarce. To remedy this lack of data, Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) embryos were exposed to BaA and toxic effects were investigated at multiple toxicological endpoints.
