Purpose: To evaluate clinical outcomes obtained after cataract surgery involving the implantation of a trifocal hydrophobic intraocular lens (IOL) and to determine if pupil size and the corneal aberrometric profile correlate to visual acuity at different distances.
Methods: 49 patients (98 eyes) underwent bilateral cataract surgery with the placement of FineVision HP IOLs for presbyopia and were assessed at 1- and 3- to 6-months post-surgery. Postoperatively, refraction, monocular and binocular uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UDVA and CDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) and the binocular defocus curve were measured.
causes devastating rice blast disease, significantly impacting rice production in many countries. Among the many known resistance (R) genes, confers broad-spectrum resistance to isolates and encodes a nucleotide-binding site leucine-rich repeat receptor (NLR). Although Piz-t-interacting proteins and those in the signal transduction pathway have been identified over the last decade, the Piz-t-mediated resistance has not been fully understood at the transcriptomic and metabolomic levels.

These infants are often medically complex and have higher mortality relative to NICU or PICU-only admissions. Given an absence of data surrounding practice patterns for non-emergent NICU to PICU transfers, we hypothesized that we would encounter a broad spectrum of current practices and a high proportion of dissatisfaction with current processes.

This study aimed to identify attentional foci and coping strategies of elite fencers during competitive matches, explore the co-occurrences between both, and examine their impact on performance. Twenty-two epeeists (11 males and 11 females) from a national team took part in self-confrontation interviews during two simulated tournaments. Data were analysed using inductive and deductive content analyses.

Methods: We developed a novel screening tool that stratified patients' risk for CLABSI and considered risk mitigation strategies.
Results: Of 1,583 screenings, 30% were classified as high-risk, 27% as moderate-risk, and 43% as low-risk.
In this Letter, we demonstrate a single-stage erbium-doped fluoride fiber amplifier composed of two spliced large core fibers with respective diameters of 85 and 130 µm. An optical parametric generator (OPG) operating at a 5 kHz repetition rate, and providing ∼2 ns pulse duration, and an average output power of 500 mW at a wavelength of 2.8 µm was used as a seed source.

In this study, we used routinely collected hematological markers to develop an aging clock to predict blood age and determine whether the difference between predicted age and chronologic age (aging gap) is associated with advanced aging in mice. Data from 2,562 mice of both sexes and three strains were drawn from two longitudinal studies of aging.

Shear stress induced by MR leads to altered von Willebrand factor activity (vWF:Act) and increased closure time with adenosine diphosphate (CT-ADP).
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of CT-ADP to monitor MR during TEER and the association between the vWF, residual MR, and clinical events post-TEER.
DNA hydroxymethylation (5hmC), the most abundant oxidative derivative of DNA methylation, is typically enriched at enhancers and gene bodies of transcriptionally active and tissue-specific genes. Although aberrant genomic 5hmC has been implicated in age-related diseases, its functional role in aging remains unknown. Here, using mouse liver and cerebellum as model organs, we show that 5hmC accumulates in gene bodies associated with tissue-specific function and restricts the magnitude of gene expression changes with age.

The objectives of this prospective study were to estimate the incidence risk of winter colony mortality in southwestern Quebec, Canada and to evaluate and quantify the impact of the associated risk factors. A total of 242 colonies from 31 apiaries was selected for sampling in August 2017.

The VBG with a 7 µm period was inscribed with 800 nm pulses with a 100 fs duration and the phase-mask technique over a glass thickness of 3 mm. Despite silica's absorption, the VBG allows obtaining a narrowband light source tunable from 2.

Design And Setting: The Occupational Radiation-Induced Cancer in Medical staff (ORICAMs) nested case-control study was conducted based on the dosimetric records of the national register of occupational dosimetry (Système d'information de la surveillance de l'exposition aux rayonnements ionisants).
Participants And Methods: 33 CNS tumour deaths occurred between 2002 and 2012 among the ORICAMs cohort composed of 164 015 healthcare workers.
Cardiac troponin is extensively used as a biomarker in modern medicine due to its diagnostic capability for myocardial injury, as well as its predictive and prognostic value for cardiac diseases. However, heterophile antibodies, antitroponin antibodies, and macrotroponin complexes can be observed both in seemingly healthy individuals and patients with cardiac diseases, potentially leading to false positive or disproportionate elevation of cTn (cardiac troponin) assay results and introducing discrepancies in clinical interpretations with impact on medical management. In this review article, we describe the possible mechanisms of cTn release and the sources of variations in the assessment of circulating cTn levels.

In order to improve the material photosensitivity and to ensure non-guiding optical fibers for subsequent laser processing of the waveguiding core, a depressed refractive index core design is implemented by co-doping a large portion of the optical fiber with germanium oxide and fluorine. The enhanced photosensitivity provided by further deuterium loading these fibers allows laser-writing of large refractive index contrast waveguides over wide cross sections.

From this, we can gain new insights into the brain's blood supply and vascular disease affecting small vessels. However, for quantitative characterization and precise representation of human angioarchitecture to, for example, inform blood-flow simulations, detailed segmentations of the smallest vessels are required.

Monitoring of the recovery-stress states was based on biopsychosocial measurements (daily and biweekly).

This contributes to development of pulmonary hypoplasia and hypertension, which is the primary determinant of morbidity and mortality for affected newborns. The severity is determined using prenatal imaging as early as the first trimester and is related to the laterality of the defect, extent of lung compression, and degree of liver herniation.
