Objectives: Depressive symptoms are common among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). They are associated with both high morbidity and high mortality. In this explorative study we investigated the frequency of Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder in a German dialysis center.

The objective of the present investigation was to study whether the use of pre-filled instead of dry dialysers would help to minimize the number of microemboli.
Methods: The study cohort consisted of 23 patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis.
