The Family Life and HIV Education curriculum was developed to drive Nigeria’s school-based HIV intervention strategy for disseminating information about HIV/AIDS and curbing the threat of HIV/AIDS among adolescents and young people. In this paper, we aimed to identify the strengths and constraints in the Family Life and HIV Education curriculum and its implementation, and we suggest possible solutions to boost its effectiveness and impact. We reviewed the curriculum and searched other pertinent literature to identify factors found to undermine the effectiveness and impact of this curriculum, as used in Nigerian secondary schools.

Background: This investigation was aimed at determining the efficacy of a rational emotive digital storytelling (REDStory) therapy on knowledge and perception of risk of HIV/AIDS among schoolchildren in Enugu State, Nigeria.
Methods: The researchers adopted a group randomized controlled trial design involving a pretest, posttest, and follow-up design involving a treatment group and a waiting-list control group. Participants were 80 junior secondary schoolchildren attending public and private schools who met the criteria for inclusion in the sample of this study.
Students are at greater risk of meningitis than non-students of similar age. However, a lack of specific school administrative policies for the management of meningitis may contribute to the increasing incidence of meningitis in the student population. The study aims were to promote the need for a policy framework in school settings to manage meningitis, and to encourage research to assess the readiness of school administrators to adopt such a policy in Nigeria.
