Using a blind insertion technique to insert small-bore feeding tubes can result in inadvertent placement in the lungs, leading to lung perforation and even mortality. In a Magnet-designated, 500-bed, level 2 trauma center, two serious patient safety events occurred in a four-week period due to nurses blindly inserting a small-bore feeding tube. A patient safety event review team convened and conducted an assessment of reported small-bore feeding tube insertion events that occurred between March 2019 and July 2021.

Consumption of animal-sourced food is an important factor in broadening the diet of early hominins, promoting brain and body growth, and increasing behavioural complexity. However, whether early hominins obtained animal food by scavenging or hunting large mammals remains debated. Sabre-toothed felids have been proposed to facilitate the expansion of early Homo out of Africa into Europe 1.

Carbonatites are rare but worldwide occurring igneous rocks and their genesis remains enigmatic. Field studies show a close spatial but controversially debated genetic relationship with alkaline silicate rocks, and petrological and experimental studies indicate liquid immiscibility from mantle-derived magmas being one viable model for the generation of carbonatites. However, unaltered carbonatitic melts are rare and the composition of primary carbonate liquids and their silicate conjugates is poorly constrained.

The "Do-Si-Do Simulation Model" was developed to provide simulation experiences for students when resources are limited and provide nursing students insight into health care simulation as a potential nursing career. The aim of this study was to gain insight on student perceptions of the use of the model as an active learning strategy and determine if it should be used in future courses. Twenty-four students who participated in two scenarios as nurses in the simulation room and as patients/operators in the control room agreed that use of the strategy enhanced their learning.

Due to the physical, psychological, or socioeconomic changes that accompany aging, many people will be affected by geriatric frailty syndrome, which can lead to multimorbidity and premature death. Nutrition counseling is often used to prevent and intervene in frailty syndrome, especially in geriatric rehabilitation. To this end, the consumption behavior of geriatric patients is recorded using paper-based, as well as retrospective memory logs in face-to-face interviews between patients and nutritionists.

Understanding hominin expansions requires the comprehension of movement processes at different scales. In many models of hominin expansion these processes are viewed as being determined by large-scale effects, such as changes in climate and vegetation spanning continents and thousands or even millions of years. However, these large-scale patterns of expansions also need to be considered as possibly resulting from the accumulation of small-scale decisions of individual hominins.

Integrin adhesion complexes regulate cytoskeletal dynamics during cell migration. Adhesion activates phosphorylation of integrin-associated signaling proteins, including Cas (p130Cas, BCAR1), by Src-family kinases. Cas regulates leading-edge protrusion and migration in cooperation with its binding partner, BCAR3.

Due to demographic change, there is an increasing demand for professional care services, whereby this demand cannot be met by available caregivers. To enable adequate care by relieving informal and formal care, the independence of people with chronic diseases has to be preserved for as long as possible. Assistance approaches can be used that support promoting physical activity, which is a main predictor of independence.

The plasma based synthesis of thin films is frequently used to deposit ultra-thin and pinhole-free films on a wide class of different substrates. However, the synthesis of thin films by means of low temperature plasmas is rather complex due to the great number of different species (neutrals, radicals, ions) that are potentially involved in the deposition process. This contribution deals with polymerization processes in a capacitively coupled discharge operated in a mixture of argon and aniline where the latter is a monomer, which is used for the production of plasma-polymerized polyaniline, a material belonging to the class of conductive polymers.

We present experimentally determined trace element partition coefficients (D) between pyrochlore-group minerals (Ca(Nb,Ta)O(O,F)), Ca fersmite (CaNbO), and silicate melts. Our data indicate that pyrochlores and fersmite are able to strongly fractionate trace elements during the evolution of SiO-undersaturated magmas. Pyrochlore efficiently fractionates Zr and Hf from Nb and Ta, with D and D below or equal to unity, and D and D significantly above unity.

We present a new analytical method, which allows the simultaneous analysis of fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), and iodine (I) in geological samples. To account for interferences of Fe on the spectral lines of F, of Al on Br-lines, and of Ca on I-lines, we prepared four new halogen-free calibration glasses. The new method is used to analyze various glass reference materials and crystal-hosted melt inclusions from the Azores.

The need for 2D vertical graphene nanosheets (VGNs) is driven by its great potential in diverse energy, electronics, and sensor applications, wherein many cases a low-temperature synthesis is preferred due to requirements of the manufacturing process. Unfortunately, most of today's known methods, including plasma, require either relatively high temperatures or high plasma powers. Herein, we report on a controllable synthesis of VGNs at a pushed down low-temperature boundary for synthesis, the low temperatures (450 °C) and low plasma powers (30 W) using capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) driven by radio-frequency power at 13.

Background: Dysphagia is common in Huntington's disease (HD) affecting all phases of swallowing. Correlations exist between non-instrumental measures of dysphagia and clinical features of HD, including age, disease duration and degree of motor impairment. Lack of instrumental data limits our ability to wholly characterize HD-related dysphagia and prognosticate swallowing changes over time.

A huge proportion of people with Parkinson's disease (PwP) in Germany have written an advance directive (AD). However, the content of these forms in regard to specific Parkinson's disease (PD)-related complications is rather low. There is an urgent need to specify ADs of PwP and consequently to improve decision-making concerning end-of-life aspects for affected patients.

This paper is focused on the formation mechanisms and the general behavior of negative ions in low pressure radio-frequency (RF) plasmas operated in a mixture of argon and aniline vapor. This type of plasma is mostly used for the synthesis of polyaniline, one of the most studied conductive polymers. Experiments based on mass spectroscopy measurements reveal the necessity to have a thin layer of plasma synthesized polyaniline on the electrodes to produce negative ions through complex surface reactions.

We report a new strategy for the preparation of dirhodium(ii) complexes with the general formula Rh(A) that allows the isolation of a dirhodium tetracarboxylate complex with a free amino group available for postfunctionalization. The postfunctionalization of this complex enables the incorporation of a variety of functional groups, including double and triple bonds as well as nucleophilic moieties, thus paving the way to new classes of polymeric as well as bifunctional catalysts, and polymetallic complexes. Furthermore, we demonstrate that a urea containing dirhodium(ii) complex enables site-selective nitrenoid insertions by remote hydrogen bonding control.
