Asymptomatic Empty Sella Syndrome: A "New" Hypothalamic Pathology or Paraphysiological Variant.

Introduction: The term empty sella refers to a shrunken or displaced (by a subarachnoid diverticulum) pituitary gland. It can be primary (genetically determined) or secondary (due to trauma/surgery/radiation). It has been reported that 50% of patients are asymptomatic, and others experience symptoms, such as headache, hypertension, or visual field defects.

Background: T1DM patients have a higher prevalence of eating disorders than the general population, and up to 30-40% of young T1DM patients suffer from an eating disorder, including diabulimia. Eating disorders worsen glycemic control and make insulin therapy management more difficult. Closed loop systems (HCLS) allow major therapeutic flexibility; however, proper carbohydrate (CHO) counting remains a fundamental feature for insulin dose adjustments.

Measurement of Electron-Neutrino Charged-Current Cross Sections on ^{127}I with the COHERENT NaIνE Detector.

Using an 185-kg NaI[Tl] array, COHERENT has measured the inclusive electron-neutrino charged-current cross section on ^{127}I with pion decay-at-rest neutrinos produced by the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Iodine is one the heaviest targets for which low-energy (≤50  MeV) inelastic neutrino-nucleus processes have been measured, and this is the first measurement of its inclusive cross section. After a five-year detector exposure, COHERENT reports a flux-averaged cross section for electron neutrinos of 9.

First Probe of Sub-GeV Dark Matter beyond the Cosmological Expectation with the COHERENT CsI Detector at the SNS.

The COHERENT Collaboration searched for scalar dark matter particles produced at the Spallation Neutron Source with masses between 1 and 220  MeV/c^{2} using a CsI[Na] scintillation detector sensitive to nuclear recoils above 9  keV_{nr}. No evidence for dark matter is found and we thus place limits on allowed parameter space. With this low-threshold detector, we are sensitive to coherent elastic scattering between dark matter and nuclei.

Measurement of the Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering Cross Section on CsI by COHERENT.

We measured the cross section of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) using a CsI[Na] scintillating crystal in a high flux of neutrinos produced at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. New data collected before detector decommissioning have more than doubled the dataset since the first observation of CEvNS, achieved with this detector. Systematic uncertainties have also been reduced with an updated quenching model, allowing for improved precision.

Biological invasion is one of the main threats to native biodiversity. For a species to become invasive, it must be voluntarily or involuntarily introduced by humans into a nonnative habitat. Mammals were among first taxa to be introduced worldwide for game, meat, and labor, yet the number of species introduced in the Neotropics remains unknown.

Smart Flow for the evaluation of the hemodialysis arteriovenous fistula.

Background: Smart Flow is an innovative tool available on the Carestream Touch Prime Ultrasound machines, which provides automated blood flow measurement and shows the vectors that form the blood flow in the vessel. We compared the use of Smart Flow with traditional Duplex Doppler Ultrasound to evaluate blood flow of arteriovenous fistulas in prevalent hemodialysis patients.

Because of habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting pressure, and conflicts with domestic dogs, these species have been threatened locally, regionally, or even across their full distribution ranges. The Neotropics harbor 21 species of armadillos, 10 anteaters, and 6 sloths.

Microwave ablation of renal tumors: state of the art and development trends.

In the last decades an increased incidence of new renal tumor cases has been for clinically localized, small tumors <2.0 cm. This trend for small, low-stage tumors is the reflection of earlier diagnosis primarily as a result of the widespread and increasing use of non-invasive abdominal imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

The role of MDCT arthrography in the follow-up of scapholunate stabilisation.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess outcomes in a group of patients with scapholunate dissociation treated with stabilisation surgery (Brunelli-Stanley) and to compare arthrography with multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with conventional radiography, the gold standard in the follow-up of wrist surgery.

Materials And Methods: Twelve patients (13 wrists) underwent surgery for scapholunate dissociation and were followed up with clinical (visual analogue scale, Mayo Wrist Score, Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation, and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand) and radiological assessment (conventional radiography and CT arthrography). Conventional radiography was assessed for: the scapholunate gap, scapholunate angle, radiolunate angle, capitate-lunate angle, and carpal height index; the CT arthrography images were also evaluated for: the distance between the dorsal exit hole of the bone tunnel and the proximal scaphoid pole, the thickness and tension of the flexor carpi radialis (FCR) strip, and any signs of joint degeneration.
