Oncology Clinicians' Perspectives of a Remote Patient Monitoring Program: A Multi-Modal Case Study Approach.

Background: Remote patient monitoring (RPM) aims to improve patient access to care and communication with clinical providers. Overall, understanding the usability of RPM applications and their influence on clinical care workflows is limited from the perspectives of clinician end users at a cancer center in the Northeast, United States.

Objective: Explore the usability and functionality of RPM and elicit the perceptions and experiences of oncology clinicians using RPM for oncology patients after hospital discharge.

The feasibility and acceptability of home phlebotomy for patients with cancer.

Time toxicity is a considerable burden for oncology patients. This study evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of integrating mobile phlebotomy into standard of care procedures. From September 26, 2022, through December 31, 2023, a total of 345 patients had 1464 home laboratory test collection visits completed.

Enzymatic production, physicochemical characterization, and prebiotic potential of pectin oligosaccharides from pisco grape pomace.

The prebiotic capacity of Pectin Oligosaccharides (POS) is influenced by structural factors such as molecular size, composition, and degree of esterification, which affect their interaction with the gut microbiota. While existing literature has predominantly examined POS derived from apple and citrus pectins, the extrapolation of these findings to other pectin sources remains complex due to variations in their composition. This study focused on obtaining POS with prebiotic potential from pisco grape pomace through controlled enzymatic hydrolysis, resulting in three molecular size fractions: <3 kDa, 3-10 kDa, and > 10 kDa.

Origins of Susceptibility to Insect Herbivores in High-Yielding Hybrid and Inbred Rice Genotypes.

Several studies have reported higher damage from insect herbivores to hybrid compared to inbred (pure line) rice. We used a collection of 20 hybrid and 12 inbred genotypes from diverse origins to test the hypotheses that hybrid rice susceptibility is due to (a) the hybrid plant type and/or (b) rice phylogeny. We challenged the genotypes with (BPH), (WBPH) and (YSB) in greenhouse and screenhouse bioassays and monitored herbivores in field plots.

Computer Simulation of Catheter Cryoablation for Pulmonary Vein Isolation.

Cryoablation is a well-established medical procedure for surgically treating atrial fibrillation. Cryothermal catheter therapy induces cellular necrosis by freezing the insides of pulmonary veins, with the goal of disrupting abnormal electrical heart signals. Nevertheless, tissue damage induced by cold temperatures may also lead to other complications after cardiac surgery.

Background: The transcription factor SOX9 is a key regulator of male sexual development and Sertoli cell differentiation. Altered OX9 expression has been implicated in the pathogenesis of disorders of sexual development (DSD) in mammals. Nutriomic Effects of Precision Lipids on Murine Hepatic Triacylglycerol Alterations Induced by High-Fat Diets.

Introduction: This study aims to investigate if a mixture of functional lipids (FLs), containing conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), tocopherols (TPs), and phytosterols (PSs), prevents some lipid alterations induced by high-fat (HF) diets, without adverse effects.

Methods: Male CF1 mice (n = 6/group) were fed (4 weeks) with control (C), HF, or HF + FL diets.

Results: FL prevented the overweight induced by the HF diet and reduced the adipose tissue (AT) weight, associated with lower energy efficiency.

Modern cancer care is costly and logistically burdensome for patients and their families despite an expansion of technology and medical advances that create the opportunity for novel approaches to care. Therefore, there is a growing appreciation for the need to leverage these innovations to make cancer care more patient centered and convenient. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Making Telehealth Delivery of Cancer Care at Home Efficient and Safe Telehealth Research Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated and funded Telehealth Research Center of Excellence poised to generate the evidence necessary to inform the appropriate use of telehealth as a strategy to improve access to cancer services that are convenient for patients.

Bracketed Stability Evaluation of Methimazole USP in PLO Gel Mediflo™30 Pre-Mixed.

Extemporaneously compounded Methimazole 1% and 10% in PLO Gel Mediflo™30 Pre-Mixed were studied to assess physical, chemical and microbial stability over time. The formulations were stored at room temperature in tightly closed, light resistant plastic containers. Chemical stability was evaluated using a validated, stability indicating HPLC analysis and physical stability was evaluated through observation of organoleptic appearance and pH measurement at predetermined time points.

Methods: Amino acid sequences of human AQP3 and aquaporin were compared through multiple alignments with 25 aquaporins from diverse allergenic sources. Phylogenetic analysis and homology-based modeling were executed, and the ElliPro server predicted conserved antigenic regions on 3D structures.

Dengue has had a significant global health impact, with a dramatic increase in incidence over the past 50 years, affecting more than 100 countries. The absence of a specific treatment or widely applicable vaccine emphasizes the urgent need for innovative strategies. This perspective reevaluates current evidence supporting the concept of dual protection against the dengue virus (DENV) through natural antibodies (NAbs), particularly anti-α-Gal antibodies induced by the host's gut microbiome (GM).

Characterization of Dengue Virus 4 Cases in Paraguay, 2019-2020.

In 2019-2020, dengue virus (DENV) type 4 emerged to cause the largest DENV outbreak in Paraguay's history. This study sought to characterize dengue relative to other acute illness cases and use phylogenetic analysis to understand the outbreak's origin. Individuals with an acute illness (≤7 days) were enrolled and tested for DENV nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) and viral RNA by real-time RT-PCR.

Purpose: Improving care transitions for patients with cancer discharged from the hospital is considered an important component of quality care. Digital monitoring has the potential to better the delivery of transitional care through improved patient-provider communication and enhanced symptom management. However, remote patient monitoring (RPM) interventions have not been widely implemented for oncology patients after discharge, an innovative setting in which to apply this technology.
