We investigated invasive left ventricular (LV) haemodynamics in patients who underwent treatment with an intensive care strategy involving extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR).

Methods: We conducted invasive haemodynamic assessments on 15 patients who underwent ECPR and achieved return of spontaneous circulation.

Introduction: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive breast cancer (BC) subtype with higher incidence and mortality rates in non-Hispanic Black (NHB) women than non-Hispanic Whites. Studies assessing disparities between NHB and Hispanic women, the two largest US racial/ethnic minorities, are lacking. This study evaluates disparities in the treatment and outcomes between NHB and Hispanic women with non-metastatic TNBC.

BASEPROD: The Bardenas Semi-Desert Planetary Rover Dataset.

Resistance against the development of diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatocellular carcinoma in female C3H mice: an experimental model.

Histopathological features of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) induced by diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in mice display strong similarities with those seen in humans, including the higher tumor prevalence in males than in females. Previous studies have demonstrated that continual production of the pro-inflammatory IL-6 by Kupffer cells is involved in the initiation and progression of DEN-induced HCC and that estrogen-mediated reduction of IL-6 secretion would decrease its incidence in females. Given the predominant utilization of male mice in hepatic carcinogenesis research, the objective of this study was to examine histopathological and immunological parameters in the DEN-induced liver carcinogenesis model in female C3H mice.

Background And Objective: Staffing shortages and health inequities are persistent barriers in the Philippines toward achieving universal health care. To ensure an adequate and responsive health workforce, there is a need to evaluate the Human Resources for Health (HRH) status across health facilities, particularly those in underserved communities. Hence, this study aims to determine the staffing requirements and workload pressure among primary care facilities in selected geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) in the Philippines.

Soil moisture is an important component of the hydrological cycle and a key mediator between land surface and atmospheric interactions. Although substantial progress has been made in remote sensing of soil moisture at different spatial scales, the shallow penetration depth of remote sensors greatly limits their utility for applications in meteorological modelling and hydrological studies where the critical variable of interest is the root-zone soil moisture content. Therefore, this study assesses the relationship between soil moisture at the surface (10 cm) and in lower soil layers (20, 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 cm) under varying climates, soils, and crop types.

Organometallic compounds, including Ruthenium complexes, have been widely developed as anti-cancer chemotherapeutics, but have also attracted much interest as potential anti-parasitic drugs. Recently hybrid drugs composed of organometallic Ruthenium moieties that were complexed to different antimicrobial agents were synthesized. One of these compounds, a trithiolato-diRuthenium complex (RU) conjugated to sulfadoxine (SDX), inhibited proliferation of Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites grown in human foreskin fibroblast (HFF) monolayers with an IC < 150 nM, while SDX and the non-modified RU complex applied either individually or as an equimolar mixture were much less potent.

"Window of Opportunity" in Ocular Graft-Versus-Host Disease Treatment: Results of a Longitudinal Study and Case Reports.

Objective: To perform a longitudinal study for determining the development of ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and report cases that illustrate the "window of opportunity" concept in oGVHD treatment.

Methods: Patients (n=61) were examined at prescheduled clinic visits before HSCT and three-month intervals after HSCT for 2 years. The presence or absence of oGVHD was determined using the international chronic oGVHD consensus group diagnostic criteria.

Myctophids, commonly vertical migrators, and partial and non-migrant stomiiforms constitute most of the mesopelagic biomass, and transport organic matter throughout the food web from the surface to the ocean's depths. Both the diet and trophic structure of twenty-nine species of mesopelagic fish collected around the Iberian Peninsula were studied through the analysis of stomach contents, quantifying food items with a high taxonomic resolution. The investigation covered oligotrophic to productive habitats, with sampling stations distributed in five discrete zones of the western Mediterranean Sea and the northeastern Atlantic Ocean.
