Aggregation of acridine orange: crystal structure of acridine orange tetrachlorozincate 2C17H19N3-2HCl-ZnCl2-CH3COOH.

The crystal structure of the biological stain, "acridine orange," has been determined. This compound, when crystallized from ethanol, is shown to be a zinc chloride double salt of acridine orange, containing, in addition, acetic acid of crystallization. These additional components are residuals from the method of preparation of acridine orange.

A crystallographic determination of a chemical structure: 6-amino-10-(beta-D-ribofuranosylamino)pyrimido-[5,4-d]pyrimidine, an example of an unusual D-ribose conformation.

The crystal and molecular structure of 6-amino-10-(beta-D-ribofuranosylamino)-pyrimido[5,4-d]pyrimidine has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The crystals are triclinic, of noncentric space group Pl, with cell dimensions a equals 5.434 (5), b equals 12.

Waldenstroöm's macroglobulinemia with lytic osseous lesions and plasma-cell morphology. Report of a case.

A 44-year-old man had Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, diagnosed on the basis of serum protein studies. A predominantly plasmacytic bone-marrow morphology and significant osseous lesions were present. This case and others in the literature indicate that osseous lesions are not uncommon in Waldenstöm's macroglobulinemia, that occasional patients with this disease have proliferation mainly of plasma cells, and that a plasma-cell morphology is usually associated with the development of osteolytic lesions.
