Purpose: Fear of missing neurologic disorders or visual loss from unrecognized papilledema often leads to emergency department (ED) visits for "papilledema" rule-out/workup. In 2022, our institution initiated an ED "papilledema protocol," a systematic evaluation with a median duration of 28 hours (IQR, 21-34). In 2023, we implemented a hybrid true color non-mydriatic fundus photography (NMFP) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) camera (NMFP/OCT) in our ED with the goal of facilitating ED patient evaluations.

Safety, immunogenicity, and effectiveness of an mRNA-1273 50-μg booster were evaluated in adolescents (12-17 years), with and without pre-booster SARS-CoV-2 infection. Participants who had received the 2-dose mRNA-1273 100-µg primary series in the TeenCOVE trial (NCT04649151) were offered the mRNA-1273 50-μg booster. Primary objectives included safety and inference of effectiveness by establishing noninferiority of neutralizing antibody (nAb) responses after the booster compared with the nAb post-primary series of mRNA-1273 among young adults in COVE (NCT04470427).

Methods: A phase 2a, dose-ranging, observer-blind, randomized study (NCT05137236) conducted in adults (≥18 years) previously vaccinated with mRNA-1273 evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of a single dose of mRNA-1283 (2.5, 5, and 10 µg) and its bivalent formulation, mRNA-1283.
Osedax is now known to be distributed around the world with more than 30 named and undescribed species. Here we report the discovery of four new species from two localities: Osedax bozoi n. sp.

Recently, we developed a machine learning-based framework to show that "gait signatures" describing the neuromechanical dynamics governing able-bodied and post-stroke gait kinematics remain individual-specific across speeds. However, we only evaluated gait signatures within a limited speed range and number of participants, using only sagittal plane (i.

We present long-term safety, immunogenicity, and COVID-19 incidence following a 2-dose mRNA-1273 100-μg primary series, and immunogenicity following a single dose of mRNA-1273 50 μg in vaccine-naïve adolescents.
Methods: TeenCOVE (NCT04649151) Part 1 randomized adolescents (12-17 years) to 2-dose mRNA-1273 100 μg (n = 2490) or placebo (n = 1243) 28 days apart.
As infants develop, caregivers adjust their behaviour to scaffold their infant's emerging skills, such that changes in infants' social abilities are expected to elicit changes in caregiver behaviour. We examined whether changes in the probability of infant-directed caregiving behaviour-specifically, greeting, a ubiquitous signal used by caregivers to initiate reciprocal interactions-differ between infant-caregiver dyads with an infant later diagnosed with autism and dyads with a neurotypically developing infant during infants' first 6 months. Using longitudinal data from 163 dyads, we found that caregivers in autism dyads ( = 40) used greeting less and at later infant ages than caregivers with a neurotypically developing infant (neurotypical dyads, = 83).

Headache in intracranial disorders drives significant disability in our patients. Management principles for secondary headaches require a multidisciplinary approach with expertise from the neurological, neuro-ophthalmological, neuroradiological, and neurosurgical specialities. The Pressure of Headache was the theme of the annual United Kingdom CSF Disorders Day and saw speakers and panellists from Australia, Europe, and the United States.

Methods: This multicenter, long-term, open-label safety study included adults (≥18 years) with ≥1 year history of migraine who were sequentially enrolled into three groups: participants in the first two groups had either 2-8 or 9-14 moderate to severe migraine attacks per month by history and treated as needed ( [PRN]) with one rimegepant 75 mg oral tablet up to once per calendar day for 52 weeks (PRN 2-8 and PRN 9-14); a third group, included to collect safety data during higher-frequency dosing, had 4-14 moderate to severe migraine attacks per month by history and who took one rimegepant tablet every other day as scheduled dosing plus PRN dosing of one rimegepant tablet for migraine attacks of any severity on nonscheduled dosing days for 12 weeks (every other day (EOD) + PRN).
Results: Overall, 1800 participants self-administered rimegepant (PRN 2-8: n = 1033; PRN 9-14: n = 481; EOD + PRN: n = 286).
As cancer therapies increase in effectiveness and patients' life expectancies improve, balancing oncologic efficacy while reducing acute and long-term cardiovascular toxicities has become of paramount importance. To address this pressing need, the Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network (COIN) was formed to bring together domain experts with the overarching goal of collaboratively investigating, applying, and educating widely on various forms of innovation to improve the quality of life and cardiovascular healthcare of patients undergoing and surviving cancer therapies. The COIN mission pillars of innovation, collaboration, and education have been implemented with cross-collaboration among academic institutions, private and public establishments, and industry and technology companies.

First described in 2004 off California, worms are now known from many of the world's oceans, ranging from 10 to over 4000 m in depth. Currently, little is known about species ranges, since most descriptions are from single localities. In this study, we used new sampling in the north-eastern Pacific and available GenBank data from off Japan and Brazil to report expanded ranges for five species: , , , and .

Tools to potentially facilitate implementation of cardiology guidelines, consensus recommendations, and scientific statements to prevent atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and other cardiovascular diseases are limited. Thus, inadequate utilization of cardiovascular medications and imaging is widespread, including significantly lower rates of statin use among cancer survivors for whom statin therapy is indicated.

Accordingly, understanding gait dynamics across behavioral conditions and individuals based on detailed modeling of the underlying neuromechanical system has proven difficult. Here, we develop a data-driven and generative modeling approach that recapitulates the dynamical features of gait behaviors to enable more holistic and interpretable characterizations and comparisons of gait dynamics.

The scarcity of neuro-ophthalmologists means that the increasing outpatient demand cannot be met, prompting many emergency department (ED) referrals by non-neuro-ophthalmologists. We describe our quaternary care institution's ED and inpatient neuro-ophthalmology consultation patterns and patient outcomes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOmadacycline is an amino-methylcycline antibiotic that is indicated for the treatment of adults with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) and acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI). Like many new antibiotics, there are scant real-world effectiveness data for omadacycline. There is also a high potential that an omadacycline prescription is rejected or reversed, and it is not known whether patients who have an unapproved omadacycline claim are at higher risk for 30-day emergency department (ED)/inpatient (IP) visits.
