New technologies for more effective microbiological assays are being adopted by the food industry to intervene more rapidly in its production chain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the alternative methods of TEMPO CAM and real-time PCR (rtPCR) Biotecon in comparison with the ISO 10272-2:2017 reference method for spp. quantification in turkey meat, aiming to validate a quick and easily replicable method in these meat matrices.

We sense the distance between two seismic-isolation platforms with a suspension platform interferometer and the angular motion with two optical levers. Feedback control loops reduce the length changes between two platforms separated by [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text], and the angular motion of each platform is reduced to [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text].

In addition, the relevance of the applicability of this type of screening in educational environments is mainly due to the difficulty of direct assessments of bone health indicators. This study aimed to propose cut-off points for physical fitness tests based on children's bone health indicators.

While culture-dependent methods have been used to characterize some members of the seed mycobiota, recent culture-independent studies have improved the ease in identifying and characterizing full seed fungal communities. In this chapter, we describe how to survey seed fungi using both traditional culture-based methods and culture-free metabarcoding.

Because seed-associated microbiota are highly variable across individual plants, plant species, and environments, it is challenging to identify the dominant processes that underlie the assembly, composition, and influence of these communities. We propose here that metacommunity ecology provides a conceptually useful framework for studying the microbiota of developing seeds, by the application of metacommunity principles of filtering, species interactions, and dispersal at multiple scales.

In 2017, the CAMS-Knee datasets were presented, containing synchronized in vivo implant kinematics measured using a moving fluoroscope and tibio-femoral contact loads measured using instrumented implants from six subjects. However, to date, no representative summary of kinematics and kinetics obtained from measurements at the joint level of the same cohort of subjects exists.

The aim was to investigate whether microdialysis catheters placed near the pancreaticojejunostomy can detect leakage earlier than the current standard of care.
Methods: Thirty-five patients with a median age 69 years were included.
Fungal symbionts occur in all plant tissues, and many aid their host plants with critical functions, including nutrient acquisition, defense against pathogens, and tolerance of abiotic stress. "Core" taxa in the plant mycobiome, defined as fungi present across individuals, populations, or time, may be particularly crucial to plant survival during the challenging seedling stage. However, studies on core seed fungi are limited to individual sampling sites, raising the question of whether core taxa exist across large geographic scales.

The use of highly crosslinked materials in hip arthroplasty improved the clinical outcome. Nevertheless, the outcome for these materials compared to conventional UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) remains controversial in TKA and alternative bearing materials may be advantageous to improve its outcome in the second and third decade.

While microbiota in plant vegetative tissues has been extensively studied, less is known about members of the seed microbiota. We used culture-based surveys to identify bacteria and fungi found in the seeds of the model tree, , collected from different sites.

Sensory input is provided by the olfactory receptor neurons of the antenna, which send their axons into the antennal lobe. So far, cellular properties of neurons isolated from the circuitry of the olfactory system, such as transmitter-induced calcium responses, have not been studied.

Particularly, venous graft thrombi occur relatively frequently and are rarely detected before the transplant is irreversibly damaged.
Methods: To detect complications early, when the grafts are potentially salvageable, we placed microdialysis catheters anteriorly and posteriorly to the graft in a cohort of 34 consecutive patients.
Objective: To examine the prevalence, and the demographic, socio-economic, and health correlates to Outdoor Gyms (OGs) use for adults from a southern Brazilian city.

We present our current best estimate of the plausible observing scenarios for the Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo and KAGRA gravitational-wave detectors over the next several years, with the intention of providing information to facilitate planning for multi-messenger astronomy with gravitational waves. We estimate the sensitivity of the network to transient gravitational-wave signals for the third (O3), fourth (O4) and fifth observing (O5) runs, including the planned upgrades of the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors. We study the capability of the network to determine the sky location of the source for gravitational-wave signals from the inspiral of binary systems of compact objects, that is binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole, and binary black hole systems.

Standardized test methods for assessing developmental neurotoxicity (DNT) require the use of high numbers of laboratory animals. Here, we use a novel assay that is based on the development of an intact insect embryo in serum-free culture.

This source, for the first time, permits tests of strong-field dynamics of compact binaries in the presence of matter. In this Letter, we place constraints on the dipole radiation and possible deviations from GR in the post-Newtonian coefficients that govern the inspiral regime.

Thus, contact forces exceeding many times one's body weight are a consequence of imbalanced muscular activity. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral. We model the impact of this instability on the phasing of the gravitational wave signal using three parameters per star: an overall amplitude, a saturation frequency, and a spectral index.

We hypothesised that the point of pivot in the transverse plane is governed by the location of the highest axial force. Tibio-femoral loading was measured using an instrumented tibial component in six total knee arthroplasty patients (aged 65-80y, 5-7y post-op) during 5-6 squat repetitions, while knee kinematics were captured using a mobile video-fluoroscope.
