[Menstrual cycle stimulation in the in vitro fertilization program--effects on estrogen and progesterone receptors of the endometrium].

Clomiphene in combination with human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) or HMG alone was used for ovarian stimulation in the IVF program. In 41 cases without embryo transfer (ova could not be obtained or fertilised) 7-8 days after laparoscopy on endometrial biopsy was performed. Serum steroid hormone levels were estimated at the same day and in the time before follicular puncture.

[Detection of dipeptidyl peptidase IV in follicular fluid--initial report].

Aspirates of ovarian follicles were obtained from patients subjected to gynaecologic surgeries. This is the first report of dipeptidyl-peptidase IV (DP IV) activity in human follicular fluid. This enzyme specifically cleaves regulatory important oligo- and polypeptides.

[DNA content and prognosis in atypical cervix epithelium].

At 76 patients an atypical epithelium of the uterine cervix was verified colposcopically, cytologically and by biopsy. The mean content and the distribution of DNA was measured by single cell-photometry of Feulgen-stained smears. These findings were compared with the spontaneous follow up of these cases.

[Attitude to pregnancy and sexuality in midwife students].

Medical and social characteristics and the findings of an psychometric test (PPKV) at 55 midwife-students were compared with the attitudes to sexuality, pregnancy and delivery (S-S-G-test of Lukesch and Lukesch). Only in 3 S-S-G-results a correlation with anamnestic dates would be found. The findings of the psychometric test did not determine the S-S-G-results.

Doppler-sonographic examination of the arterial flow in the carotid and supratrochlear arteries during carotid angiography.

In 55 patients, the blood flow in the carotid and supratrochlear arteries was examined by Doppler sonography during cerebral angiography. In general, a threefold response was observed: an initial phase of turbulence during the injection was followed by a phase of depressed and then of increased arterial flow. The second phase of reduced perfusion which probably is caused by the increased viscosity of the mixture of contrast medium and blood, is more pronounced in the internal carotid artery, whereas the third phase of accelerated flow is more marked in the external carotid artery.

[The reliability of computer tomography in the diagnosis of recurrent symptoms after lumbar disc operations].

In 67 patients with recurrent complaints after operations of herniated lumbar disks, the CT findings were compared with the results of the subsequent second operation. Postoperative complications as haemorrhages or inflammations appear as localised or diffuse densities within the spinal canal in the operated segment and can be diagnosed without difficulty. The differentiation between a true recurrent herniation and scar formation is difficult, mainly within the first 4 weeks after operation.

[Initial results with urine cytology in gynecologic tumors].

60 cytologic examinations were done of urine of 29 patients with gynecologic tumors. Material and methods are basically different from the usual cytology. Urinary cytology was a repeatable procedure without risk in the prediagnostic of gynecologic tumors in the field of the bladder.

[Side effects and contrast medium resorption of iopamidol and iocarmate in lumbar myelography].

Lumbar myelographies were carried out with lopamidol and locarmat of identical concentrations of iodine in 2 groups of 20 patients each. In about one-third of the cases, clinical side effects and EEG changes were found after the examination without difference with the exception of one seizure and one state of confusion which occurred only after locarmat. Resorption of the contrast media was judged by CT examinations of the lumbar spine and the head.

[Diagnostic importance of CT examination of the lumbosacral region of patients with lumbo-sciatica (author's transl].

In 160 patients with lumbo-sciatic complaints, CT examinations of the lumbo-sacral region were carried out. In 106 of these cases, which were controlled by myelography and/or operation, the CT diagnosis was correct in 74%. In 19%, the CT findings were uncertain, and in 7% they were wrong.

[Cellular differentiation processes in normal squamous epithelium and initial stages of cervical neoplasia].

Nuclear size and ratio between DNA and nucleus were measured in 787 normal, pseudo-dyskaryotic and dyskaryotic cells of superficial and intermediary layers obtained from condylomatous lesions as well as from cases of atypical metaplasia and slight dysplasia, following Feulgen staining of the cytological specimens. All cell types occurred at different periods of time, as was observed in a longitudinal-section study. This, together with the data measured, was likely to suggest the biphasic nature of changes in cell nuclei, in that initially functional nuclear oedema (pseudo-dyskaryosis) was followed by differentiation towards the dyskaryotic cell.

[The diagnostic significance of spinal computer tomography with special reference to perpendicular projection (author's transl)].

The computer tomographic examination of the spine and of the cord by third generation apparatus is of increasing diagnostic value because of improved spacial resolution and density discrimination. By means of a localisation scan or topogram, it is possible to choose an accurate position for the section through the area of interest and to tilt the gantry to produce a ray parallel to the neural arch. All abnormalities affecting the spine can easily by localised and their extent determined.

[Case history of clinical course of Buschke-Loewenstein tumour (author's transl)].

Described in this paper is the case of a woman, 59 years of age, in whom an extended giant condyloma of the vulva was removed, with the patient cured, by several surgical interventions. The problems relating to such benign tumours are discussed.

[The microprobe excision as a search biopsy within the scope of cancer-trace detection on the cervix uteri].

Besides colposcopy and cytology microbiopsy as a detection method for early detection of malign cervical lesions was applied to 142 women patients of the UFK Halle. A precondition for the successfull application of this method is a carefull preliminary colposcopic examination and close co-operation with the histologist. The interim result of the microbiopsy corresponded to a high degree with the definitive result.

[Endocrine aspects of ovarian cancer. I. Clinical and pathological-anatomical examinations].

A group of 131 patients with carcinoma of the ovary developed in 16% irregular bleedings. In 9,2% bleeding was caused dysfunctional. 9 of 42 cases (= 21%) showed a significant prolife-ration of the endometrium.

[Does intensive prenatal care during childbirth lead to a greater risk of infection?].

Histological specimens of 196 secundinae were examined. In 57% of cases leucocytic infiltration was founded. A positive correlation exists between the incidence of leucocytic infiltration, premature rupture of the fetal membranes and lowgrade pyrexis at the delivery.
