Background And Objectives: Diagnosing ventriculostomy-related infection (VRI), a common complication after external ventricular drainage (EVD), is challenging and often associated with delayed initiation of antibiotic therapy. We aimed to develop a stewardship score to help in the decision of antibiotic therapy initiation when VRI is suspected.

Methods: This retrospective, single-center cohort study included patients admitted to the intensive care unit after EVD placement who were suspected of having healthcare-associated ventriculitis and/or meningitis between January 1, 2012, and August 31, 2022.

Purpose: To describe the relationships between Neisseria meningitidis (NM) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) at genetic, population, and individual levels; to review historical trends in antimicrobial resistance (AMR); to review the treatment and preventive landscapes and explore their potential impact on AMR.

Methods: A narrative literature search was conducted in PubMed, with searches restricted to 2003-2023 and additional articles included based on expertise.

Results: NM and NG are closely related bacterial pathogens causing invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) and gonorrhea, respectively.

We present our findings on interpatient transmission, epidemic control measures, and the outcomes of a series of ten critically ill burn patients who were either colonized or infected with carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB). None of the five infected patients achieved clinical cure, and all experienced relapses. Microbiological failure was observed in 40% of the infected patients.

Background: Regular quality-assured whole-genome sequencing linked to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and patient metadata is imperative to elucidate the shifting gonorrhoea epidemiology, both nationally and internationally. We aimed to examine the gonococcal population in the European Economic Area (EEA) in 2020, elucidate emerging and disappearing gonococcal lineages associated with AMR and patient metadata, compare with 2013 and 2018 whole-genome sequencing data, and explain changes in gonococcal AMR and gonorrhoea epidemiology.

We report two extensively drug-resistant (XDR) (NG) isolates combining high-level resistance to azithromycin and resistance to ceftriaxone, obtained in France from two heterosexual patients, one of whom returned from Cambodia. Whole genome sequencing identified MLST ST16406, the mosaic -60.001 which caused ceftriaxone resistance in the internationally spreading FC428 clone, and the A2059G mutation in the 23S rRNA gene.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) are at high risk of sexually transmitted infections, among which HPV infections are particularly prominent. We took advantage of the MémoDépistages study to evaluate HPV distribution at anal and oropharyngeal sites in HIV-negative multipartner MSM. Objectives: Apramycin is an aminoglycoside (AG) with a unique structure that is little affected by plasmid-mediated mechanisms of AG resistance, including most AG-modifying enzymes and 16S rRNA methyltransferases (16S-RMTases). We evaluate the activity of apramycin against a collection of 16S-RMTase-producing isolates, including Enterobacterales, non-fermenting bacteria, and carbapenemase producers.

Methods: In total, 164 non-duplicate 16S-RMTase-producing isolates, including 84 Enterobacterales, 53 Acinetobacter baumannii and 27 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates, were included in the study.
