[Single-dose administration in the treatment with penicillin G (PG) and metronidazole (Me) in primary pulmonary abscesses (a preliminary study)].

The anaerobic bacteria play the main role in the etiology of the lung abscesses (Finegold, 1989). From this reason, the administration of the association PG and Me (endovenously or per os) gives a high healing rate in our country; 90.5%.

[The etiological profile of the pulmonary manifestations in AIDS patients (studies of 65 cases recorded in Romania up to 1 March 1993)].

HIV infection and its final form as AIDS were ignored by the public opinion in Romania till 1990. Nowadays it is real fact in our country. Out of total number of 2235 AIDS cases declared till March 1st 1993 by the Ministry of Health only 134 were adult persons.

[Atypical pulmonary hydatid cyst].

An atypical form of a pulmonary hydatid cyst is described. This was a solitary super-infected pseudo-tumoral cyst and the membrane was incarcerated which has enabled us to propose as a description for this new morphological aspect of a cyst, with a filled margin of the proliferative membrane. We propose the term "Rosebud".

[The pulmonary manifestations in AIDS].

Clinical and paraclinical experience in HIV infection, though the time elapsed since the first observations is relatively short, begins to get typical outlines. In the case of AIDS, the lung is the main place of opportunistic infections, other inflammatory processes and neoplasia. The present work deals with six clinical cases with positive serum tests for HIV and secondary respiratory phenomena such as: Kaposi sarcoma, pneumonia with Pneumocystis carinii, tuberculosis, candidosis, pneumonia with common germs.

[Computed tomography in establishing the therapeutic management of lung cancer].

Computer tomography (CT), a noninvasive method of high complexity, compelled recognition in pneumological practice, becoming indispensable. The present study deals with 59 patients suspected of bronchopulmonary cancer, who were submitted to computer tomography, besides other examinations. CT contribution in establishing the diagnosis, the therapeutical line (particularly in determining the surgery moment) as well as the correlations (concordance and discordance) between the information offered by CT and by other conventional (radiological, bronchological) methods are analysed.

[260 cases of tuberculosis death at the Institute of Pneumophysiology of Bucharest 1976-1985].

The case notes of all deaths due to tuberculosis registered at the Institute of Pneumophysiology at Bucharest have been reviewed. Out of 273 patients registered, the diagnosis of tuberculosis was retrospectively confirmed 260 times on either bacteriology or histology and was not confirmed by analysis of the medical notes on 13 cases. Of the 260 cases (70% males) the ages range from 18 to 75.

[The advantages and limits of computed tomography (compared with conventional methods) in the diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma (a case report)].

The authors analyse the advantages offered by the computerized tomography in comparison with the conventional methods of diagnosis, the study and classification (TNM) of a case of pulmonary adenocarcinoma with multiple metastases: renal, suprarenal, hepatic, peritoneal, bony, lymph node. At the same time there are also pointed out the limits of this new method.
