The rapid production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) due to lipid peroxidation of unsaturated bonds in wholesome vegetable oil during its storage and utilization happens to be the most alarming cause of concern in the edible oil industry. In researching for an ideal candidate to be used as an antioxidant, it has been identified that engineered CeO nanoparticle with curated surface chemistry (Ce3+/Ce4+ ratio) displays an enhanced ROS scavenging activity. Herein the CeO nanoparticles (∼100-110 nm) were manufactured though controlled synthesis protocol to achieve the desired outcome.

Causes of paradoxical response include Pure His capture and inadvertent intermittent direct atrial capture. In the index case , we postulate that the likely mechanism of paradoxical prolongation could be due to decrement in the AV node due to the shortening of HH interval which happened as a result of a narrower H + Vc beat .

The synthesis of acenaphthenone-2-ylidene ketones has been developed using PEG 400 as a solvent under metal and acid-free conditions. Using TBN as a nitrating agent under atmospheric oxygen, nitration of acenaphthenone-2-ylidene ketones has been accomplished for the first time. Upon nitration, ()-2-(2-oxo-2-phenylethylidene)acenaphthylen-1(2)-one and alkyl ()-2-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2)-ylidene)acetate give the diastereomer with the same geometry.

The causes of atrial undersensing in a dual chamber pacemaker include true undersensing (low amplitude electrogram), functional undersensing (related to the effect of special timing cycles in the presence of an adequate signal) and paradoxical undersensing. This case report describes paradoxical atrial undersensing at a higher programmed atrial sensitivity and with the return of normal atrial sensing at a lower programmed sensitivity.

A 50-year-old gentleman with old anterior wall myocardial infarction with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD, Abbott Medical, Fortify ST VR 1235-40) presented with recurrent appropriate ICD shock. The ICD stored EGM indicated a possibility of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) rather than ventricular tachycardia (VT) when the morphology match was found high. Bundle brunch re-entry (BBR) VT was another differential.

Article Synopsis
  • Endless loop tachycardia (ELT) is a frequent issue in patients with implanted cardiac devices and can cause serious symptoms despite preventive measures.
  • * A study analyzed 20 cases of sustained ELT from 4,520 device checkups over four years, finding it usually benign but occasionally harmful, particularly in patients with left ventricular dysfunction.
  • * Various factors contributed to ELT, including improper AV synchrony and sensing issues, and adjustments like changing sensitivity settings or PVARP duration were necessary for management.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)-promoted catalyst-free oxidative C-N coupling and C-O coupling under oxidant-free conditions are outlined. This protocol is operationally simple and leads to various functionalized substituted imidazoles or oxazoles in good yields. To date, a very limited number of oxidation protocols have been established, where DMSO acts solely as a catalyst or an oxidant or both.

Context: Resistance to antimalarial drugs is one of the major challenges for malaria elimination. In India, artemisinin combination therapy (artesunate-sulfadoxin pyrimethamine) was introduced in place of chloroquine (CQ) for the treatment of uncomplicated falciparum malaria in 2010. Periodical monitoring of polymorphisms in antimalarial drug resistance marker genes will be useful for assessing drug pressure, mapping and monitoring of drug resistance status; and will be helpful for searching alternative treatments.

Uncertainty and uneven distribution of monsoonal rainfall and its consequences on crop production is a matter of serious concern in India, specifically, in the Indo-Gangetic plain region. In this study, drought patterns were investigated through standardised precipitation index (SPI) of varying timescales, using the India Meteorological Department (IMD) precipitation data (1901-2021). We analysed the spatio-temporal pattern of different drought characteristics (frequency, duration, severity, intensity) of the Indian Gangetic basin using run theory.

We report a case of symptomatic supraventricular tachycardia who had absent VA conduction during electrophysiology study. The interesting finding was appearance of VA conduction only at a specific cycle length of ventricular pacing which reproducibly induced a sustained orthodromic re-entrant tachycardia (ORT). We review the literature and conclude that supernormal AP conduction can explain such phenomenon.

Functional superstructures constructed from metal nanoclusters (MNCs) hold great promise in providing highly tunable photoluminescence (PL), catalytic activity, photothermal stability, and biological functionality. However, their controlled synthesis with well-defined size, structure, and properties remains a significant challenge. Herein, we introduce a novel approach that combines depletion attraction and thermal activation to induce the formation of spherical superclusters (AuSCs) from Au(I)-thiolate complexes within the assembly.

During ventricular extra stimuli(VES) protocol a VA jump was noted. In upper panel with VES @ 500/270 ms (Fig A) the His signal appeared after the A-EGM, ruling out pure nodal VA conduction and confirming presence of an accessory pathway (AP). The H signal was delayed due to probable retrograde RBBB.

There is an increased desire for miniature ultrasound probes with small apertures to provide volumetric images at high frame rates for in-body applications. Satisfying these increased requirements makes simultaneous achievement of a good lateral resolution a challenge. As micro-beamforming is often employed to reduce data rate and cable count to acceptable levels, receive processing methods that try to improve spatial resolution will have to compensate the introduced reduction in focusing.
